we have all seen it arty drowning themself on full hp when things are going bad/there the last man standing.

The issue i have with this is it prevents the team/player doing well getting certain achievements and costing them exp, it is purely a tactic players can use to spoil the game of the person with 5 kills or if there close to high caliber and so on.

personally i would make the repair cost of drowned tanks 10x the amount of standard and on top of that all remaining ammo regardless of type (premium or standard is removed as we can argue water damage.

this alone will make players think twice about killing themself

what do you guys think.

all the crew dies, so the drowned player gets only 50% crew xp.

I am not sure if one has to pay full repair costs too.

anyways, if you overdo the drowning stuff, your account does get flagged.

I personally try to fight till the bitter end, even if it's a lost cause.

I see far more that aren't arty, drowning themselves, but you don't want to hear that.

This^

Arty tends to drown itself at the end of the game mainly because it's the last tank left.

However, I have seen MANY fools drown themselves or throw themselves off a cliff at the start of a game just because XVM has told them they will lose.

Always annoys me when arty does this, they should stand honorably and fight till the end, how ever what happens when you drive off somewhere by accident? That is not deliberate but a pure and simple mistake.

Old problem. 2591 threads about it already.

Yes, punish them.

No, why? Not their fault they were given chimpanzees to their team.

Double the repair bill should be enough to make player suicide another way.

Like flipping the tank or fall damage. Then we have to add extra repair bill to that to.

Then we just have tank that go full kamikaze just to get out of the match fast.

In the end it changes little.

Pretty sure they pay repairs as normal, and get no xp on a loss, negligable xp on a win. Like slitth mentioned, if you penalize drowning, there are other ways to get yourself killed.

I'm also not convinced it's a big issue, I can't remember the last time I saw somebody drown themselves at the start of the battle. In the end, you really can't force somebody to play if they insist on being useless.

That just doesn't make any sense. You put it as if drowning was a kind of solution, but compared to actually going in and getting a few more shots off, it is just horribly stupid and immature. Grow up.

A dead enemy is a dead enemy, I don't care how they get in that state.

No, I think people should not be punished when drowning themselves, and here is why:

1. Sometimes people drown by accident.

2. Arty normally drown themselves when they are the last tank to save on repair cost. They make more money that way. If they stay and fight, its very possible that they will get out spotted and destroyed by an "invisible" tank.

What should get punished is when arty destroy themselves by firing point blank at a wall or rock. The splash damage normally kills them then. Here they do not have the excuse that they are saving on repair costs.

Repeat offenders.. Sure.

But having a 10x repair because the last Type 5 pushed you over the cliff into the water, but was not credited for it? Yeah I can see that working for 5min before the flood of topics starts to appear.

But the effort to get a mark gone should be more... complicated vs now. As in you do it a few times a week, you can still kinda get away with it if you play enough games were you don't do it etc. It should not be timed or battle based. It should be reset once a week or ever 2 weeks. So that if it happens once or so.. nothing will happen. If you do once a day.. The idle punishment should be implemented after you done that a few times. Zero xp and no credits for a few games.

Well, if I play 50 games, I'll probably suicide 1-2 times because I found out some cool place has some slippery cliffs leading into watery death. Or my escape plan was not as clever as I thought it was. Or that my idea of a shortcut across a river wasn't a real shortcut. Now, maybe if it was punishable, I might not try to spot on the island on Abbey. Or wouldn't hulldown at the back in the cliff or what ever. But sure sounds harsh.
