WG always claimed that preferential MM was a feature that should make PREMIUM TANKS profitable.

Now they claim KV-5 should be rebalanced to be competitive in MM+/-2. "We give a better pen here and strenghten the armour there but nerf sth else etc ..."

But that's not the point. If I'd like a similar tank that is simply competitive I'd grind and play KV-4.

Being a PROFITABLE tank in MM+/-1 is something completely different from being a COMPETITIVE tank in MM+/-2.

Stronger Front armour, more Pen, more Alpha and nerfed side and rear armour, it is likely to become more profitable than it is now.

Better penetration will make your tank more profitable to begin with because you get rewarded credits for doing damage so if you pen more, you do more damage so you get more credits.

That is why it's generally more easy to make credits with tanks that have big guns because their shells do more damage per shot (for a small increase in price).

My take on all this is that I'm fine with them buffing my preferential MM tanks and letting them see tier X as long as we get to keep Frontline mode.

I hope frontline mode stays, it is my only real reason for playing at the moment.

If it stays I would like more than 4 prestige levels. Am kinda stuck now with completing the rank to 30 four times.

Keep Frontline but for god sake put up some sort of training video for the windowlickers . Hiding @ the back of the map for a whole game or attacking when playing defence sends my blood pressure through the roof . I got it as soon as i read ATTACK or DEFEND @ the start of my first battle and a good drive around to find spots , there is way too many out there still pure clueless or just can't read so "say it with pictures"

The tank had pref MM due to the fact that it's gun seldom worried other tier 8 tanks let alone tier 9s. Can you imagine trying to take on an E100 or Type 5 with the dreadful peashooter the KV-5 currently has? But even with pref MM the KV-5 required too much used of gold ammo to be competitive. So if you are going to take away it's pref MM you have to buff that gun and the massive frontal weak spots which even a KV-2 with a dead gunner could hit from 400m. But if you just buff the tank you run the risk of creation a tier 8 version of the Type 5 Heavy, a tank that is TOO strong and with a skill requirement that even my cat could manage, so you have to nerf something. Now it remains to be seen if they have got the balance between buffs and nerfs right. However the real issue should be how they are compensating those who do not want to keep the revised tank. I can see the logic in their approach but I feel they could have afforded to be a bit more generous and simply let you trade it in for any other prem tank (of the same tier) without having to stump up any extra gold, maybe that wouldn't have been a decision an accountant would make but it would have won they some good PR.

Yes, please make FL a permanent game mode. However I would like to see the following changes. 1. gives us a couple more maps for variety (preferably 1 desert and 1 snow map), 2. Have it rotate through several tiers i.e. week 1 is for tier 6 tanks, week 2 for tier 7, week 3 is tier 8 and week 4 is tier 9 (no tier 10s thanks). 3. Remove the rental tanks, if FL mode is available for lower tiers on a cycle then players who have not yet gotten to tier 8 will still be able to play in their tier 6s and 7s so they will have no need of the rental tanks to participate in the game (anyone who is not at tier 6 yet doesn't have the experience really to be in FL).

Also rather than bad/poor players the biggest issue I have seen in FL is players refusing to cap or defend the cap and playing purely to do damage, they forget this is an objective based mode and if the attackers don't cap they loose and if the defenders ignore the attackers that are capping (in favour of easy kills) they will loose. Perhaps give bigger rewards for completing objectives and lower the rewards for just racking up damage.

doubt so, the bit increasement in regards of pen doesnet help at all to create dmg vs t9/10 tanks thus shooting gold will be required ruining the income as on any other t8 premium tank currently.

The buffs it is getting seem very nice. It would surely make it hard to decide whether to keep this unique, buffed vehicle or trade it for a defender. As it is now, it is gathering dust in my garage, even with SMM

Depends on the Tier 9 or 10 tank you are shooting at, but that standard pen value should be enough to pen most Tier 9 or 10 Tanks that aren't Heavy Tanks.

Well, lights and arty sure. Meds only if they expose their hulls as WG has buffed the turret armor of hightier meds significantly over the last year or so. And with TDs you either get paper or super-heavies in disguise. The bigger issue is that even the premium rounds will hardly make a difference against those tanks (similar issue as with the IS-M, but that one at least has a decent turret and alpha). If you're running into a Maus or even just an E75 (that isn't a complete idiot) you're simply screwed. Hell even a Vk-100 will be a pretty tough nut to crack with those pen values. On the other hand all of those enemies will go through the "improved" armor without any real issues.

So is this a hint by WG that very soon the KV5 is going to appear in the premium shop? Question is, will it be worth it?

Going by the buffs, it seems to be worth it, assuming they do add it back, however paper stats aren't same as taking it into battle.

WG seems to go right direction now.

Don't be so negative.

I'll gladly trade in my T34 for a Defender if that will be possible ... Hardly ever play that thing anymore with all the powercreep.

More dmg means more credits for any Premium Tank. The rounds cost almost nothing....The repair costs almost nothing. The only thing that is making the tanks less profitable is the low performance at times.

I'm guessing the people complaining don't even play them, KV-5 struggles against 8s it's a tank for bullying tier 6s and 7s but 90% of the match making it sees is 10 8s and 5 9s where it's food for the other tanks.  These are good changes.

T34 doesnt have PMM, so you wont be able to trade it in...
