WG is planning to remove preferential MM status. Maybe it would be interesting to have a list of which tanks that can be changed because of this.

Tier 8: 10 tanks

8.8cm Pak 43 Jagdtiger, 112, WZ-111, T-34-3, Type 59, FCM 50 t, M6A2E1, T26E4 Super Pershing, KV-5, IS-6

Tier 7: 3 tanks

Panther/M10, E25, AT-15A

Tier 6: 1 tank

TOG II

Tier 5: 7 tanks

Stug IV (personal missions), Churchill III, KV-220-2, SU-85I, T14, Matilda Black Prince, Excelsior

Tier 4: 3 tanks

A-32, Valentine II, Pz.Kpfw.B2 740(f)

Tier 3: 2 tanks

T7 Combat Car, Light Mk. VIC

In total 26 tanks.

There are other tanks to with Preferential MM/special MM, like. I dont think they have been normally for sale for all players

T23E3 Campain tank (World on fire)

Pz.Kpfw.IV Hydro, Pz.Kpfw. V/IV, Pz.Kpfw. V/IV Alpha, KV-220-2 Beta Test, M4A2E4 Sherman. They was given as gifts to betatesters etc.

T-44-85, T-44-122  for press accounts

I have not calculated how much gold these tanks would cost if someone had all 26 tanks with PMM/SMM. I dont know about price for campain/gift tanks.

I have not looked into how much money this would make with current ingame gold price.

But it could be interesting in case of refunds or trade-ins.

If something in the list not right, plz feel free to correct it, np.

I doubt we'll see anything but T8 PMM tanks being rebalanced. The top-end is the most problematic for the matchmaker. I'm not too sure about the claims that PMM tanks ruin the matchmaking for other T8s, but I'm not surprised that PMM tanks don't work well with the 3-5-7-prioritized matchmaker - nor am I surprised that Wargaming wants more regular T8s in the queue. The game needs T8s to feed T10 with fresh seals. That's been the idea from the start - you grind credits and feed T10 at the same time.

Whether you believe in Wargaming's claims that PMM is bad for the matchmaker is up to you.

They are still selling the vast majority of the tanks that are causing issues - and even reintroduced tanks, the JT8.8 as late as February

They've had this matchmaker for a year, and suddenly figured out that PMM was an issue.

They even started telling us a few months back that they wanted to make the PMM tanks competitive, and were trying to figure out how (removing PMM was deemed the most appropiate solution).

Last, but not least, a developer/game master on the RU forum suggests that removing PMM is what the players want. The logic is that most would prefer not to play a "T7,5" tank in T8, seemingly implying that this is what more 'dedicated' players would prefer. It's no secret that e.g. the KV-5 is very much workable beyond the lackluster AP penetration - which can be compensated by positioning/tactics and using APCR.

If you ask me, they'd be better off removing all PMM tanks two years ago. That's literally what their policy was supposed to be in May 2016, and part of why they removed the 112. Turns out they decided to rebalance it with PMM and slap it back into the shop/tech tree. I bet greed and the cash-only powercreep premiums (Defender, AMX '49, Patriot, Skorpion etc.) put a quick stop to that.

Sucks for Wargaming that the greed's come back to bite 'em in the behind now.

Definitely thinking of buying the Super Pershing again, preferably on discount again.

Last time I bought it on discount after they announced they would be offering a full refund, and I got the full price back.

It's a cheap tier 8 and the upgrade to something decent for 2k gold could work out well.

I don't see the rebalance progressing below tier 8 either, although the Panther/M10 is basically a Pudel, which is a tier lower so the obvious thing there would be to drop it a tier.

Pz.Kpfw.IV Hydro, , KV-220-2 Beta Test,

The Hydro, is/has been sold, in the same bundles as the Pz-IIIJ /BT-SV very seldmon. Its fecking awful.

The KV-220-2 has also been sold to other than Beta testers

(I have one, it's even on my stats., its quite the troll until people stop shooting the UFP/LFP, and then discover the turret is made out of a colander).

STUG IV could really use a buff of anything. Other than camo, the whole thing is terrible... :D

Pz. IIJ is missing.

I'll be devastated when this gets nerfed, although nowadays I only take it out on Christmas Day, just to say 'Happy Christmas' and put a smile on everybody's face that encounters it.

It's not a pmm tank but can They buff the IS-5, arty levels of gun handling means it's unplayable.

Looking at original announcement, all the examples of what's wrong more or less covers tier 8 - both the tanks and the issues with matchmaker. I doubt they'll continue the process with rest of the tiers, as, well, there's just no point. Listed tanks and mm works fine (enough) at lower tiers, and touching them is just lot of work with nothing but trouble for return.

Had my eye on the non clown camo AMX M4 49 for a while but not willing to pay the price.  A discounted S.Pershing plus 2k gold would be about 8k, a decent saving on the 11 and a bit they are charging currently.

Well they said mid tier and up at first did they not? So I doubt the T7CC etc will be affected. And the B1 on tier 4 has +1 MM. But since the B2 has his stock gun, he got +0. So tbh I doubt they will be affected. Even less so since tier 1 to 3 has +1 MM as is. But they have pointed out that tier 3 and 4 needs some major balance work done. So who knows.

But… there are some tanks on that list I can see issues with when trying to make them +2. Not saying it's impossible, just tricky. Tog II is one of them. As even with a 20 pdr and 3K dpm. It's not gonna be ideal for it anyway. Same with the KV-220 as it's turret is auto penned by tier 6 guns as is. Even meds. So vs tier 7 guns, it won't do much. And buffing the amor will just break it when top tier. I can see the T14 working for it with a better gun, but then again the M4 improved has +2 MM with the same sub 100 pen gun. So there is that.

Tier 7 TD's have to low alpha to work on tier 9. Like the E25. Even with more pen, the alpha is to low vs tier 9 targets. Even if it had the rear end of the a Tortoise, accounting for the odd bounce etc. 2K damage with that gun would drain the ammo fast. So a late game carry might be tricky. AT-15A had +2 MM when it came. But it was removed as a "buff" way later as it's gun proved underwhelming for it. Give it a 32 prd gun with good DPM, it might work. 17 pounder works fine on a tier 5 TD or tier 6 med vs tier 7/8 targets. Challenger got buffed and had his gun removed as it showed how useless it is, vs tier 9 armor and HP in general.
