Dear WG team,

Tomorrow 25 May, GDPR rules will come into force in Europe.

It is rather astonishing that no announcement whatsoever was made on the mainpage of the site.

I bet the legal team must be working hard, but please.can you let us know in due time ( normally it should be tomorrow 25th at latest) what this chenges imply for the players and for the game ?

Most companies seem to have jumped on the "everyone else is sending out emails so that must be the right thing to do" bandwagon.

 

When in actual fact sending out an email to confirm your customer wants to receive emails from you smacks of not having asked them in the first place, or worse, not knowing if you had already asked them in the first place.

what exactly is your question? There is no rule that says that a company has to inform customers that the GDPR comes into effect tomorrow. Its quite simple - you have rights and the company has to be complient with that.

My points are:

1. It is strange that for such a big change WG is not communicating, at all

2. The British interpretation of GDPR ( Guardian) seems to radically differ from the continental one, maybe becwuse of brexit. Since in the true Europe, I mean EU, all from banks to telecoms and shops are sending lots of letters e-mails on this. And let me doubt thst banks legal services are just stupid.

Only from now on this new law is going to be enforced by the courts and what not.

Maybe because most of it was already part of our own data protection act.

Indeed many players are expecting XVM to come to an end, tomorrow.

Therefore my point is : with such a big change no comm at all from WG ?

Yeah, banks are pretty stupid, especially EU ones.  I see that Deutsche is sacking 10,000 staff because it has been so stupid that it can't make money, along with having been fined tens of billions for being not only crooks but stupid crooks.

 

Do you really want an email from WG to add to the several hundred messages of boring unread rubbish about GDPR that have been infesting your inbox in recent weeks and which are of no interest or use to anyone?

XVM does not share your personal data as defined in GDPR.

Deutsche has a policy to do this every five years, mostly with contract staff, as it avoids the "an employee" liabilities, but it is also used to collect a  bit of other dead wood.

Consent to personal data is pretty different from statistics like those from xvm.

They do not identify you nor belong to you.

Why would they need to communicate anything if nothing changes? If they are already complaint  with it, there is nothing to announce.

I bet next months will be interested for the point no.6 of the Privacy rules.

It will also be question wheter the info shared with XVM or other 3rd parties COULD contain data allowin personal identification.

In which case, XVM will ultimately be terminated.

But it's not only this: all sites like vbaddict or wotlife will probably be affected.

Only counts if it's personal data.  Guess you want right clicking a player's name to give you player stats to disappear also and not be able to search player stats on any web site  etc. etc.  Game would be poorer for it.
