You know how everytime you destroy a tank and it explodes? Yeah it kinda bothers me cause that's not how tanks (mostly) didn't get destoyed.

I'd be happy if the tanks could just look exacly how they looked like before I destroyed them just you know, they'd be ''destroyed'' not playable anymore. Like how warthunder is kinda doing it.

Did you try searching for a mod for this?

Does it matter? As long as an enemy tank is out of the battle, who cares what the wreck looks like?

Then play that game.

WoT is arcade, it's over the top at times, unrealistic, more Hollywood movie than simulator.

I am unsure what that gif has to do with the topic, but I'm really glad that cat is okay!

I know a lot of people wouldn't care about it but I'm that guy that cares way to much about how a tank looks or any little detail about something in visuals.

Just cause I point out one thing in War Thunder that I like doesn't mean I like the game as a whole. I know wot is an arcade game and I like that, the simple gameplay but this doesn't change the ''gameplay'' only the visuals so I don't get why it would be a problem, just to have it as an option. It would be easy to add, just instead of the tank using the blow up animation and chaning into a wreck just make it so it stops working.

What you seek is sort of in the game already. If a tank crew gets killed, the tank remains on the battlefield in an intact state.

In reality, this is what happened to most tanks left seemingly undamaged on the battlefield. The crew abandoned the tank for various reasons (from no fuel, to no ammo, to being detracke din hostile territory)

In WoT, the crew has no intent to leave the tank unless dead, nor is fuel an issue & detracking is fixed internally (magic!). You can run out of ammo, but generally the crew will stay put, hence tanks in WoT fight till they are destroyed & compared to some RL examples, the WoT wrecks look pretty intact.

Not sure if a mod exists tbh, as it sounds like alot of work for a minor issue.

True, but I mean still, one shot making the tank explode, even if it isn't in a critical spot.

The explosions themselves you mean? Yes, They're a tad bit over the top. One of the things that bothered me initially with the 1.0 update: huge fiery explosions, even when ramming, as if my tank came equipped with a flamethrower.

We got one boys! Bring out the flamethrower!

I always liked Aslans mod that made a little mushroom cloud explosion when you killed an enemy.

Seemed like a nice touch.

Yes it's an arcade game but just cause of that doesn't mean it gets away with everything. Changing one visual setting doesn't change the ''gameplay'' so there isn't really a reason for them not to.

The best and most obvious reason I can come up with is to make it perfectly clear that the tank has been well and truly destroyed. I've seen numerous times at low tiers, people shooting tanks whose crews were all dead before the tank lost all its HP. It's pointless to shoot that tank anymore, you don't get any more damage out of doing that.

This is a game WG wants to aim at all ages, older people may not be as perceptive as some of you think.

This is it.  Just a visual cue to let you know the target is dead.  The ships do the same.

That I can understand but they could just have it so you could go to settings and enable the option to not have ''exploded'' tanks.

Actually, there already IS such an option. Set extra effects quality to OFF in graphics, now all you'll see is sparks. Settings > Graphics > Details > bottom of the page you'll find Extra Effects Quality, set it to OFF.

But will it remove the exploded tanks, I mean the greyish black burned tank that shows up after you've destroyed a tank. That's what bothers me, not the fact they explode, it makes more sense for the tanks to explode and then look like they've ''exploded'' that them randomly after you've destroyed them just gets replaced into a exploded tank model.
