I just had a game in my t95 and got penetrated by an ap shell from obj 704 in the strongest part of the tank (see screenshots).

According to tanks.gg my effective armor was almost 600mm.

How is that possible?

I read this title and the first thing I thought was "That's what she said!"

You're not the first to post a screenshot of a really weird T95 hit, somebody else posted one where they shot the track, yet did damage. There's apparently something really wrong with that model, or some very funky ricochets...

The shell didn't hit a 600 mm armor. My guess is it went up through the tracks and into the underside of the hull shoulders.

Nothing wrong with that model in particular. Every plate of armor in the game got a nominal thickness and an angle. Negate the angle somehow and you'll be penetrating only the nominal thickness of the armor. Like shooting the Maus/E100 upper plate from above, shooting the STRV 103B lower plate from under (with sub 122mm caliber) or in this case shooting up into the underside of the shoulders.

Pretty bad though for the OP but to cheer him up, the 704 got enough pen to go through the T95 lower plate anyway!

Damn, that goes through the space armor covering the tracks, flying over the tracks themselves, completely missing them, and hitting the underside of the hull which is practically unreachable under any other angle... :amazed:

After a closer examination of my fourth picture I can see that the shell hits the tracks from below in a slight angle, and afterwards hitting the side superstructure, that means that the shell did not interact with any part of the body of t95, only tracks and superstructures, which should not result in damage.

And yes, I know 704 can pen my lower plate but that was not why I posted this ;)

But it says that the damage will be absorbed

If it hit the superstructure it'll never pen. My guess is that it hit the underside of the superstructure. Calculation of penetration through spaced armor is not always very accurate so it might say "absorbed" and still penetrate! I won't really trust that 100%.

There is a strip either side of thegun that is around 305mm  effective.

704 could pen that on a high roll

Yep. Not where that shot went though.

Almost every german tank got that gap above the tracks. Get slightly under them and you can shoot up into the tracks damaging and perma tracking the tank. Thanks tiger! :)

There were periods when you must have had interest and experience in TD to win, now you just see T95 in team and you understand this battle wil be unplayable and probably lost.
