I'm looking at some tier 8's to buy. I don't want to spend more than £30 , I'm looking for something fast and with a punchy gun with semi-reliable armour.  And of course , something that makes a lot of credits.

I'm looking at the leKpz M 41 90 mm , it hasn't got armour but is it worth buying?

That aspect is reliant on how well you do in it. Damage/assist = credits ofc. And lights is not the worst atm in terms of profit. As they are cheap to run on repairs and ammo vs say a HT. ELC even 90 don't make as much as easy as my Lowe does etc. But after repair and ammo he usually sit with as much, or more.

Dont waste your money.. WG will just shaft you in the long run(and the short run).. If you are semi decent you can make 25-30k credit spamming HE with the M4 sherman if you got a prem account. There are a few other tonks that will yield that much as well no biggie, like the M44 and other tonks that use HE, jumbo sherman comes to mind.

Some of them have (or that is my impression) better credit making potential while others are better at crew training. Another factor is your play style. Pick the wrong one and you'll be raising your frustration index instead of your credit making potential. Right now tier 8's are in a sweet spot but only if you like playing Frontline... which will go away soon, June 3, IIRC....

The thing is, I won't mind spending money on wargaming (although I know I shouldn't) I just want a tier 8 that I can make credits in.

The T92 is a decent choice, however trades the armor completely off. The leKpz M 41 is almost the same category, however T92 is better as a passive scout for it's low profile.

As I'm a little addicted to Pattons, I can suggest the M46 KR, or the 59-Patton. Two very beastly vehicles, with an all-round, versatile play-style. Cheeky armor, but do no rely on them too much.
The STA-2 and Panzer 58 Mutz are also fine choices, agile, with high-penetration, nice DPM. Zero armor, but that's just trading off again.

These four have all carry-potential, but I need to premise this: They're not for the wrongful hands. Not easy plays.

Löwe, T34, This M6A2E1, Superpershing are better for begginers, they're banking very diligently. They're just slow.

You're demand of high speed, with good armor and good gun is too contradictory, unless we're talking about the well-balanced Obj. 430U or Obj. 268 V4.
T54-mod. 1 is the closest for this, and it is very-very good.

If you are unsure about the m41, the t44-100 meets your requirements the best.

Bought lowe 8 days ago and 3 marked it within 5 days!

It gets decent gun only miss 1 to 2 shots out of 10.

294mm of gold pen is great against tier 9 and even 10s u can easily kill type 4s and 5s with it lowe is total brutal tank!

Don´t buy any T8 premiums unless you enjoy playing bottom tier in TX games 95% of your games.

Skorpion G, WZ-120-1G, Lorraine 40t or Progetto M35. M41 90 mm if you are good in light tanks. Lowe if you really like heavies.

Skorpion is better when bottom tier, WZ is more fun (you are not limited to red line sniping in it) and has more carry potential. Both have high alpha and penetration which is good for making credits.

Lorraine is an autoloader with the highest penetration all tier 8 meds. It's also very fast. Progetto is an autoreloader which makes it better than single-shot mediums in almost all situations and you have an option to fire 3 shots in a short succession. Both are probably the best tier 8 mediums.

M41 90 mm is a relic from older days when light tanks used to have +3 tiers MM spread. Vehicle wasn't rebalanced to +2/-2, like all other tier 8 lights which makes it better than most of them, especially in terms of firepower. In fact, it gets better gun than some tier 8 meds, while keeping all advantages of a light tank (superior mobility, camo on the move). It's capable of doing as much damage as tier 8 mediums but more spotting damage which is good for farming credits. But it's harder to play (low hitpoints, no armour).

Lowe is one of the best tier 8 heavies after buffs and easy to play. It has very low DPM but its gun is better in many other aspects than other tier 8 heavies.

Just don't get anything with limited MM. Those tanks were balanced to be good in top tier battles, which doesn't happen often anymore. They struggle to fight even other tier 8 tanks.

Think twice before you buy. It's not exactly a huge investment, but prepare to be disappointed. That's what it's come to.

  1. A premium tank's credit earning is not necessarily in scale with the price. Especially if you can't perform adequately in them. Good performance in a T6 is more fun and likely makes more credits than so-so results in a T8.
  2. T10 is not as much fun as you would think. That's where you really need credits too. Of course, being top-tier is fun - but Wargaming has shown that they're not shy about introducing tanks that are far stronger than they should be. T10's a rat-race to grind the newest, shiniest premium tank and spend credits on shooting premium ammo.
  3. No guarantee that the tank you're buying retains its features in the future. Or even tomorrow. Currently, they're dead-set on removing PMM as soon as testing is finished - yet you can still buy PMM tanks. Heck, they even slapped the M6A2E1 into the premium shop yesterday. Does that seem like good, serious business practice to you?
  4. Making credits in WoT means you'll buy a premium tank, invest time and end up in a "supporting role". I.e. you're feeding the T10s. And you're paying for it.

T8s are a bad idea with the state of the game. I'd recommend another premium, but knowing the 'subject to change' stance on premiums I honestly can't.

Ah a true unicom, 3 marked it in less than 5 days, not marked any of my tanks, well apart from scratching the paintwork, you bless us mere mortals with your presence:D

To the OP, I would say save your money until the Polish Heavy comes in the shop, failing that wait with baited breath for the return of the Defender, but that is highly questionable seeing WG antics recently.

Just buy one in a class/country that suits something you are grinding as the crew training will be useful.  The downside of any credits you get from a tier 8 premium these days is likely to be a lousy win rate due to the match-maker.  That may or my not matter to you.

(a) Spending the £30 on premium time and then playing tier VI well, will earn more silver over the period of the £30, than buying a tier VIII and playing it poorly.

(b) If you bought premium time and an excellent tier VI premium such as the T34-85M and play that well it will earn more silver during the premium period than the same money spent on a tier VIII.

(c.) none of the premium light tanks have anything like "semi-reliable armour", especially not the leKpz M41 90 GF aka the Blackdog, which also suffers from low velocity shells, but is nonetheless in an experienced light tank drivers hands a very good tank.

(d) "something that makes a lot of credits" = Lowe.

(e) " something fast and with a punchy gun with semi-reliable armour" = does not exist at tier VIII premium.

(f) KR Patton and STA-2 have semi-reliable turrets for the odd bounce when hull down.

(g) Lorraine 40t and Progetto are punchy but have zero armour.

As others said. Don't waste your money - every premium tank makes decent enough credits - you may check on the test server if you like their playstyle BUT, and this is a huge BUT - you don't have any guarantee if WG won't get a sudden rush of manure to brain and decide to change the key factor of a tank that you just spent your hard-earned money on, like what they are planning to do right now with older preferential MM premiums - WITH NO PROPER COMPENSATION, no refund offered, nothing - unless you want to give them even more money.

The best money makers are arguably tier 8 premiums. The thing is, tier 8 MM is so massively screwed up that you will be landing as bottom tier (as in, you will be a cannon fodder) in quite literally 70% of your games, Ask yourself if it is worth it.
