Anyone else use this obscure bit of kit?  My KV1 and my Russian premium heavies (Churchill III, KV220, IS2, KV5) all share a ridiculous 7+ skills crew so there is no need for fire extinguishers and I use RSG instead.  Seems to give a bit of a boost to speed and it's cheap as chips as it never depletes.

Like 4-5 years ago, I had an awesome platoon with IS-7's loaded with removed speed governor + oil and rushing into the places where the enemy is not expecting you. It was great fun and that night we had like 90% win rate. You just reminded me good old days. :)

I just want to check; you do realise that the RSG has to be activated, and then it can be toggled on and off as desired?  It just seems from your comment about never depleting that you are not actually using it.  Anyway, I used them quite a lot ages ago with russian lights.  I would activate the RSG with a button on the side of my mouse, and would toggle it constantly as my acceleration needs changed.  I stopped playing russian lights and the buttons on my mouse stopped working, so stopped using the consumable.

The only thing I really don't get is why this is a consumable, and yet "Fill tanks with CO2" is equipment. Other than that- never bothered with it.

Used to use it a fair bit and years ago,

Keep meaning to see if the reusable repair kits mean you can keep it on all game

Yeah, even I had spotted that.  I keep it on to get into initial heavy positions faster, then toggle it off unless needed later for a speed boost.  It doesn't matter how often you use it, the thing never depletes.  Unlike other consumables it is permanent.

Used it a fair bit on the KV-5. Works really well. People tend to claim that engine HP isn't a factor in determining how long it'll last - but it clearly is. SU-14-2 has 90 engine HP and can barely drive into position with it on. KV-5 lasts for several minutes.

Best part is that if the engine gets damaged (yellow) it still works. Every little bit helps.

Haha, who knows. CO2 is really dumb as far as equipment goes, if it actually eliminated fires it could be worthwhile - though the effect from the AFE is usually plenty.

I think he means that the consumable isn't actually consumed. Buy one and use it forever.

Only use it on my lights that can have it. Like the T-50. Never on any of my HT's etc.

Out of curiosity, any reason for that?

A damaged engine is kind of a big problem though. I'd rather run food @ 10k a pop, better value and also increases mobility.

To get to vital key points faster then the enemy lights. As I do get faster to hill on mines etc with it, vs without it. And there, every split second counts. And I have it set to the middle mouse button, so I turn it on and off as needed. Off once I get off. On once I relocate again. As I've done passive spotting with it on a few times and forgot about it :P

I never used it on anything but lights. As unlike octane. It don't affect the turret traverse as far as I know. As I had that on the Challenger to get the turret going faster to name one. And 10% of nothing is still nothing. So if you drive a snail. It's not gonna do much.

you just reminded me the good present days, but instead the IS-7 there are the 268/4 doing the same, without those consumables

haven't used it since I was on xbox driving a lt with it and 105 octane.  sometimes in the heat of battle you forget it's on and then *clunk*. engine gone.  screw that. just me and my forgetfulness.

Question: does your engine HP regenerate when you turn it off? So if you use it wisely you can keep using it all game without getting a borked engine?

That would make it slightly more interesting.

Now you can just take out 268v4 and do the same without even using the governor

Plus, you can shoot on the move, unlike the IS-7 with a vstab.

Now now, don't overdo it, the IS-7 gun gets special RASHA moving snapshot abilities too.

Does anyone know the answer to my question about the speed governor and engine damage though?

It gets yellow, so...no.
