Since I got the Type 4 heavy I've been going through what seems to be an unavoidable hell, if there's an arty in the battle I'm getting shot by them and if that's not what kills me it'll be the inevitable ammo rack that happens every other game.

What do you guys think about it?

How effective is the wet ammo rack and the spall liner?

This is becoming unbearable

"I'm being countered with my OP super heavy derp machine". See, nobody cares.

These heavies are big arty magnets. When i play O-Ho every fukker shoots at me and when I play arty I shoot at every Japanese heavy I see.

Wet ammo & safe storage should help the ammo racking I would think.

Well atleast they're shooting at super heavies and not at the ''camping'' lights and meds at the frontline

On tanks like Type4-5 arty focus is the stadard. The spall liner works quite well with the ammount of armour those tanks have, so I would suggest you to mount one.

About wet ammorack, it's not that usefull. Just remember that your ammorack is located in the rear part of the turret, in the hull under it and behind the inclined sides of the frontal armour. Expose this area the less possible and you should be fine! :)

I'll give it a go, seems like I need to test it since hardly anyone who's replied to me so far has anything better to do than troll

Man recently it seems like every frontal shot is ammoracking me, not to mention the double FU that is an arty ammorack, guess I'll have to suck it up, at least the spall liner will help for now I guess. Thanks for the reply

I had hoped that the derp would be fun and free xp'ed most of the way to it and found that the tank sucks big time. I haven't driven it since I tried like 3 battles with the derp gun, I found that the 14 cm gun were better and I used a spall liner, vents and rammer when I drove it.

It's not really fun as everybody knows they have to fire gold ammo and then it just renders it's armor invalid. So the Type 4 experience is like: you can't really move, are focused by arty and everybody pens your armor:hiding:

Right? I just hope that the Type 5 has enough raw armour to stop at least some gold every few shots

Spall liner is a must for slow superheavies.

Most arties I see don't shoot at super heavies, they are too busy XVM focusing the bottom tier medium or chasing a light tank round the map.

That's what I thought until my first game in this tank, I thought my stats alone kept me safe.

Little countdown activity for you when in the Type 4/5.

- Are there multiple arties?

- Is it an open map?

If both questions are yes, then don't push as usual. Check whether there are areas where arties have trouble shooting. Go there if possible. For example the Redshire map , at the heavy corner, you got now quite some arty cover from zeppelin bodies above it. Also, the other flank has a castle that's useful at times (because don't go it alone, especially in a Type 4 or 5)

Most of all, make sure you're not spotted continuously. As once you're spotted and an arty has found you, chances are he will stick with you (Arty players are great lovers :girl:).

Lastly just lower your expectations for that battle.

Ok, that's my serious reply...

That's called being in the Type 4 Heavy, its just something you have to suffer through until you unlock the Type 5 then you can gain great pleasure from selling the Type 4.

That makes a lotta sense, I guess I have to learn to just avoid those sky nukes seeing as I can't just shoot across the map and nuke them back (though I did manage that once)

Thanks for the reply!

In that sense I can also advice you to use your few arty battles to learn more about how to stay out of arty focus.
