I have some tanks that I do well in and have a good win rate in. Likewise I have tanks that maybe I don't do so well in and either way have a poor win rate in. Unlucky tanks.

My question is to those who also have similar experiences and how you deal with it. Do you keep it and plug away?Do you find a way to turn it around? Maybe one day it clicks what you are doing wrong? Do you sell it on as a 'badun' and refuse to ever touch it again?

Perhaps if you simply do not like the tank you might free xp your way through it?

What do really good players do with unlucky tanks though? The ones that you really like. Is win rate paramount or do you think 'screw it, I enjoy it win OR lose'?

Just interested.

For what it's worth if I have a sub 50% win rate regular tank I will bin it as quickly as possible unless I need it for a grind.  There are plenty of tanks that suit me better, so why torment myself with one I can't make work?

If it's a premium I will hang onto it as it may be useful for credits and training but won't take it out much.

Every tank I own has been "unlucky" today. Playing WoT in the afternoon is painful.

If you play a lot of tanks then naturally some will be unlucky in that they get a disproportionate number of "bad" teams, and since 1 battle in every 100 amount to 1% WR, it doesn't take that much of a deviation to skew things;

T32 - 108 battles - 1579 WN8 - 38.89% WR

Cent. 1 - 112 battles - 1586 WN8 - 54.46% WR

T28 Prot. - 198 battles - 1604 WN8 - 45,96% WR

T28 - 126 battles - 1502 WN8 - 54.76% WR

Another thing to note is that while I have unlucky tanks, I have about as many lucky tanks. When I had played exactly 300 different tanks on my account I had an overall WR of something like 49.8X%, can't remember the exact value anymore, but I did a count back then, and out of all those 300 individual tanks, 10 had a WR that was between 49.0 and 50.0, which means that only 3.33% of all tanks played back then had a WR that was within the same "whole" percentage as my overall, all other tanks were either below 49.0% or above 50.0% WR. Things have probably changed slightly, but I bet a vast majority of my tanks are still like that, either below or above my overall by something close to 1%.

I have had some tanks that I flat out called "cursed". Most prominently, the M6. And I had that in the time it was still considered a very good tank. No matter what I did, I could not make it work, I could not win in it. To this day I believe it has one of the lowest winrates of my seriously-played tanks.

There's also the Leopard 1. My winrate in that is also disgusting.

Mine are probably similar, but I am certain that there are some in which I will most likely get a win, others most likely a loss.  This might be because they are UP/OP, or the required play style doesn't suit me.  Generally I find that a dozen or two dozen games is enough to tell me if a tank will work for me.  I know that isn't a very scientific approach.

Yeah, I hated my M6.  Got 40% win rate in that over 50 games.

Indeed, the WR of these tanks are of course not solely dictated by the ratio of muppet and sensible teams, things like playstyle also play a role, as does crews etc. At the end of the day I am not a carrying player, and for me at least teams seem to be the most prominent factor as I am never more than 1/15th. of the team.

Since I'm eventually grinding everything in pursuit of those technical engineer badges and all T10s, and generally do not free XP past tanks other than T2-T3, and sometimes T4, the WR will suffer slightly. Right now it is the AMX 65t that is the thorn in my side, alternating between 43 and 44% WR and about 50k XP to go... but at least I get XP on the crew along the way :)

For a fair while, I have tried working my way back up through all the terribad wn8 tanks I had.  Determined to learn them and actually be a better player.

What I have learnt from this is that this was a very stupid idea to try.

The tanks suck and I have spent a lot of gold retraining high skilled crew in terrible tanks.

My new mantra is going to be like Homer Simpson's:  "You tried your best and failed miserably, the lesson is never try"  or in other words I'll give it 20 battles then dump it.

I don't envy you your tier 10 grinds.  I can just about hold my own at tier 5 but after that my essential ineptitude is all too apparent.  Still, a nice thing about the game is that we all choose our goals.  You have your stable of tier 10 tanks, I have my seal-clubbed scalps.

Well, if we disregard T3 with less than 500 battles in total and T1 with a little over 600, my best tier is 6 with a WR of 51.52, and in T9 it is 50.62, so I'm fairly consistent, there are no strong sweetspots where I should theoretically thrive better than elsewhere. But agreed, one of the good things about the game is the diversity in player goals, goals that can be changed over time.

There are no unlucky tanks, there are just those which you play without interest.

Indeed...There are them crazy tanks that do really well in battle. Until you buy and play them then the armour turns to paper and the gun is firing peanuts.

To play unlucky tanks i do what youtuber "unicums" says, and it works.

Basically you just stay "in the back" of the action and farm as much as you can, while letting all of the others in your team take the shots and take the risks for you.

I mean, if they are so stupid to suicide or play badly, you should feel ok using their stupidity to your own advantage without feeling the least bit sorry about them.

At least if you don't find a tank enjoyable this is an easy way to be able to skip it as fast as you can, playing the least amout of battle necessary to be able to research the next tank

Sometimes, some tanks make me really question the "random" nature of the MM....

Grinding the M12, and have the wonder win rate of 20%....

In other grinds, like the T28 I just knew I was going to get a winning team....

St. Emil until a few weeks ago was a real pain grind, but suddenly started to get winning teams and top tiers like crazy...

For me is Is7, everyone shoot me when I'm playing with it. Good tank but everyone in enemy team hates it. :)

Any heavy. I suck at heavies, I accept this...even T29 and IS3.. My VK1000.01P is doing remarkably well  but I'm sure it will even out. What it is doing though is giving me chance to finally work out how armor works without being 2 shotted to death.
