Greetings fellow Matilda Black Prince lovers. (You know you are really.) As the title says, how would I go about making my own gameplay video with commentary which is recorded while I'm actually playing?

I have Nvidia Shadowplay although for some reason it never refers to itself as Shadowplay. I also have a rather expensive headset with microphone.

It just seemed like a fun idea to maybe make a series of "noob diaries" videos which will hopefully chart my rise through the ranks. It would be probably the only series of WOT videos which are made by someone who is a relative noob instead of a master who only shows his absolute top games (ahemQuickyBabyahem).

And even if I continue to suck, hopefully my disastrous tomato skills will give hope to otger players. "Every night I say to my wife, 'Jesus Christ I suck at this game but at least I'm not that Poet guy'."

Download OBS and use that. It's free and works brilliantly

and yeah, don't do QB and show top games. Notice how he's always top tier too?

Action by Mirillis is paid for, but has come top of pile in a number of reviews.

Works well for recording any game and commentary as well.  https://mirillis.com/

If you need to edit the video afterwards try Lightworks.  It's free, very easy to use and has been used to edit a number of Hollywood films (good ones too like Pulp Fiction, not things like Sharknado).  https://www.lwks.com/

You can also enable the mic while recording with GeForce experience.
I prefer recording the video and audio separately though, and then combining them.

You'd watch a YT channel that featured everyday 99% of the time games?

Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. I will start trying to put something together tomorrow. This wouldn't be about showing every single battle or rambling on about how crap I am for an hour, it would be an attempt to do something different and offer comments and experiences that you wpn't necessarily get from other Youtubers. And hopefully it would appeal to noobs too; everything currently on Youtube shows polished professionalism, so seeing someone genuinely struggling and learning to overcome it should be accessible to everyone.

Guess I'll have to put something together and see what people think?

Youtube (and the rest of the internetz) has hundreds of tutorials about this kind of stuff.
Also remember that there already are 27932 people doing the exact same - and no, not all of them are unicorns. They actually are a minority...

DaVinchi Resolve is professional editing suite software, it has a built in full on Audio editor, can be downloaded for free from Black Magic Design here https://www.blackmag...davinciresolve/

it looks a bit full on when you first start it, but you won't need many of the features, lots of youtube tutorials and a comprehensive manual help to get to grips with it in no time

Just gotta be unique. If you're a good commentator or really funny people will watch you anyways. Because people don't only watch Circonflexes. They also watch skill4ltu, orzanel, shishx, quickybaby or whichever one they like. You just gotta be unique, entertaining and keep pumping out content!

Thank you for all the suggestions chaps, it is much appreciated.

I have just finished recording my first three battles plus a training battle - not sure if any of this will actually be used, but it was useful experience and I had fun. Thank you also for mentioning the video editing software which I have downloaded (I started with OBS since it's free, but haven't used it yet). Gonna put several vids together and see how the first couple do. Not expecting fame or fortune or anything, it would just be nice to contribute something to the community, and there are very few people covering low tiers or British tanks. There is still a lot of fun to be had here, even if usually at my own expense

Depends what the objective is. For entertainment, obviously not.

It's arguably a bit 'fishy' that a reviewer uses a top-tier game to illustrate a tank's performance - since that occurs, nominally, at a 20% rate. It's not accurate. It gets even worse when you consider that a tank that works well as top-tier isn't necessarily much use or fun when at the bottom.

Not that I think anyone's fooled. There's a reason the Skorpion G's so popular.

That actually looks good.  Going to give it a whirl myself on the old dogging videos, sorry I meant tank videos of course.

You would have to include Claus Kellerman in your list of watched you tubers, funny and occasionally spins off into some lovely rants, not always about tanks either. I would suggest watching as many different people as possible to see where you could place yourself. You will have to have a niche of your own to get a regular following I think.

Good luck .

My favourite Youtuber so far is Aging Jedi. Claus can be very funny but I'm not keen on the five minute intros :hiding:

Check out Lord_chipmonk's channel. He doesn't have a lot of reviews but when he does them he looks for fairly average games as top tier and as bottom tier to show how the tank actually performs.

Edit: on Topic. Start by enabling all replays.

Trying to commentate live is bloody hard.

It's similar to patting your head and rubbing your stomach.

Use replays edit videos, dub audio after. Audacity is your friend.
