Can someone please tell me if my interpretation of this PingPlotter plot is right?

Hi all,


I'm experiencing massive ping spikes, and Im not sure why. Looking at this image I believe the problem is between my router and my ISP's exchange center, but I'm not an expert and just wanted to double check, so any help would be much appreciated! I could bare it if it was a constant high ping, but jumping from 40 to 500 is a pain, and has lead to all sorts of screw ups and me tipping over a few times while navigating cliff faces.




Also, what is the massive red block in the bottom graph? Is that packet loss?

Both your assumptions are 100% correct.

routerlogin.net is specific to Netgear and is indeed your router.


Before contacting your ISP, you could try to restart your router.

You could also login into your router (visit routerlogin.net in your browser) and check the network activity. Maybe some device in your network has gone rouge.
