The Black Prince.

Why has this thing never recieved anything in the form of buffs? It's completely unplayable.

Thought I'd rebuy and suffer through it since I really want the Caernarvon+ but I can't do it to myself....

Seriously, buff this damn thing even a little.

Pen is useable, thats about it.

  • 150 alpha needs buffing to at least 165-170 to be even remotely effective
  • Turret armour needs a buff on the top strip and cheeks or the gun depression needs buffing to -10 with a cheek buff.
  • Speed should be 25 at least.

While it's not great, I recently found myself grinding through the 110. The Black Prince is a valiant stallion compared to that turd.

Haven't been that far up that chinese line. Can't stand the thought of playing the terrible T-34-85 variant on there lol

But I can't see anything in game being worse than the BP.

What's wrong with the 110? It's decently mobile, has decent armour, good DPM, more gun depression than your average Chinese or Russian heavy, I really liked it when I ground through it.

Standard pen is a little low and the gun handling is not IS3 levels but I thought it was a good all round tier 8 heavy.

Anyway, the Black Prince is clearly a WG free XP sink like the T-34-2 and others, they recently rebalanced the whole British heavy line and left the BP completely alone, yet made the Caernarvon, Conqueror and Super Conqueror very strong on their tiers, that is no coincidence, they want people playing that turd to get the better tanks and then getting so frustrated they skip it with real money.

Thats understandable, every line has a turd. That's common knowledge.

However theresa difference between a turd, and a tank that can't even reliably carry top tier games since it can be out traded by tier V heavies.

Its has less DPM and less alpha than the most common tier V heavy tanks the KV-1, BDR and T1 heavy.

Arguably its not just one turd in that line, but 3; both Churchills and the BP.

Too bad WG didnt address the T5-7 tanks when they buffed the UK HT (high-tier) tanks, since all three could do with some serious TLC (note: I am only on the Church I, but that previous statement stems from what I have heard/ read/ watched on these three tanks)

Churchill 1? lol that is the ONLY churchill i got rid of, some might argue the A45 is worse although in another thread and now on this one th BP and the A45 are my go go tanks, even over the tier 7 german heavy VK whatever.

The problem is the BP is just the Churchill which faces tier IX.

The Churchill is at least competetive vs it's own tier andsome tanks the tier above due to the respectable DPM attier V and some useable armour.

This:)

Back then you were actually top tier one third of your battles.

Can imagine with the new mm and new heavily armored tanks this grind must be as painful as it gets.

Before WG decided players would enjoy being bottom tier every match, the BP was not all that bad. As top tier the armor worked and Caern was the real stinker of the line.

I agree. It's the worst tank I've played in this game (when top configuration is considered). The low mobility without any other redeeming traits completely kills this tank.

Yes, I hated it to bits! It's so darn slow that you'll never get to battle in time when it matters.

The 5-7 tiers on that line were like this:

Churchill l - > lol this is bad but awkwardly funny haha.

Churchill Vll -> errr it's like the 5 but worse? Oh well, the BP must be better. RR to battle!

Black Prince -> THE CAERNARVON BETTER BE AWESOME!!!! < a year break from the line > crapI gotta grind this so I can stock grind Caernarvon at frontlines! :/

And so I did. Two nights of reserves on and hating myself. Now I got Caernarvon with most modules and I gotta say... don't do it. Just don't. I mean it's good but I don't think anything can remedy the trauma I got from playing those 3 tanks. TVP VTU was great grind compared to this.

I played BP a long time ago and it was pretty decent. It had armor to work with. Sure it was slow, sure you had to use APCR shells vs. most tier 8/9 tanks but it was a pain to dish out a BP from a sidescrape position in a city map. I rarely could carry due to low speed, hence just a 49% WR overall. But I averaged 1.2k dmg and 2k wn8 per battle or so. I had no problem dealing with tier 7 HTs even though they had way better DPM. Just had to position myself in order to sidescrape or angle and move back and forward.

Nowadays though... would rather not. I found the tier 6 one to be the worst imho because those tracks are hitboxes. I'd rather suffer with a BP at tier 7 than with a Caern at tier 8 like it was back in 2014-15? Think it's better now. I don't usually recommend platoons, but a two man platoon is needed to grind faster this turd (matey with T29 works great).

The BP is not a bad tank. You have some armor, good turret and 8 degrees of gun depression. The gun reloads every 4 seconds which gives you the ability to perma track people. Gold spam is "good" but you are a dinger so you don't need any advice there. :)

Grind wise it's only 110k required for the Caernarvon from elite. With boosters and prem account, that's like 3 2-hr sessions of pew pew. Not so bad i guess!

Speed should be upped and the armor should be made *ACTUALLY* effective and not riddled with weak spots left and right.

Atrocious tank that has no place being at tier 7, it's a Tier 6 maximum but rather a tier 5,5.

Cobra 6

Gun depression is completely unusable due to the massive hull and mid positioned turret, this means your hull is completely over the ridge before you can even get your gun down.

The alpha damage is unusable for a heavy that faces tier VIII and IX. The DPM is worse than every other tier VII heavy, depsite the low alpha.

No to mention the "some armour" you mention. The turret armour is unusable due to the top third being a weakspot for everytank taller than you (almost all tanks you can meet) and any slight angle on the cheeks resulting in around 150mm effective from the front.

Using gun depression on a certain ridge in a certain map is up to you. I know the turret placement is central but it can still be used plus it can side scrape.

The alpha is 150 which is quite low but it got DPM. The VK45.03, T29, KV-122, AMX M4, Tiger (P) and O-Ni all got worse DPM.
