Double Press to Crawl 1.1.1 WG approved

This mod allows you to crawl forwards or backwards by double pressing and holding your forwards or backwards movement key.
This is equivalent to engaging cruise control on the lowest setting, with the difference that the tank will stop once you let go of the key.

Thanks, i'm sure this will come in useful for tanks with large reticle bloom.

While it's nice to have, it is not really a game changer. I don't think it will become very popular.

Modding is very enjoyable for me, that's why I took the request. :)

I also found this gem in the WoT source code:

commandName = commandName.replace('_SHORTCAT_', '_SHORTCUT_')

Some context what this piece of code does: this code is run when reading your keyboard controls settings from the WoT settings file on your hard drive. Apparently some developer at WG has miss spelled "shortcut". All this piece of code does, is scanning your settings file and renaming all occurrences of "shortcat". :teethhappy:

Sorry, dry developer humor :hiding:

Hello, the mod seems to be useful for me, but only on specific cases. Sometimes happens that I unintentionally use this feature which leads to loose of time or something. My idea is if you can add some button as a trigger to switch off/on the mod and add the config file to specify the shortcut keys for that? What do you think lgfrbcsgo, you see it useful for the others?

Just checked, works on 1.0.2.0, folder structure must be changed.

Rename from 1.0.1.1 to 1.0.2.0 or move double_press_to_crawl.wotmod file to C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\mods\1.0.2.0

Best regards

nilsenth

I'll maybe add an option for Hotkey + W and Hotkey + S.

A hotkey to activate/deactivate is bad design in my opinion. You'd need an extra indicator to show whether it is activated or not.

Idea with hotkeys sounds good for me. Will it be customizable hotkey? I will give it a try when it will be ready. Thanks for taking my open point into consideration :)

Of course it will be customizable. It might take me a while though as it is really hard to test a mod like this when the test server is offline. Training rooms can't be used for testing either as you need two players... I mean, it is not hard, but it takes time. I don't want to go into a battle just to be stuck for the first 2 minutes until I've restarted the game with the mod removed.

EDIT: The football mod works great for testing.

Here's a version which can use a hotkey instead of double pressing https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

You have to activate it in the JSON file first.

Some feedback would be great before I publish it. :)

Just tried the mod with hotkey and it works fine, and i like it better then the original with dobblepress W-key, it is easier to control now.

Best regards

Version 1.1.0

Added the option to set a hotkey in the config file.

Pressing the hotkey and one of the movement keys has the same effect as pressing a movement key twice. The hotkey can be released once the tank has entered the crawling state.
