I am personally tired of stock tanks. When I buy a new tank I want to like it ,not to hate it because it has a cannon that is 2 tiers lower, and I can't penetrate nothing..Am I right?

If I was a moderator, I would set this thread on fire and give you a week ban to think about how devoid of substance you OP is and how this thread will inevitably be devoid of constructive discourse.

You are right. The desired solution is to spend free xp.

Personally I just suffer through them at slow pace

Yes it can be a pain the pain is increased depending on tank type and tier.

Low tier it really doesn't matter high tier it most certainly does.

Heavy tanks and TDs it matters a great deal.  Mediums sometimes matters light tanks and SPGs probably not at all.

I have 3 ways of handling it.

1 grind other tanks that free up modules I can use on the problem tank sometimes one grind saves  3 or 4 other grinds from being painful.

If it were not for wargaming insisting there is a real difference between a gun on a tank and the same gun on a TD a lot more painful grinds would vanish.

2 I just do the daily double on problem tanks minimising the frustration till it vanishes.

3 use cash

Depends on the tank. Most stock grinds are basically just the tank one tier lower with more HP. Like the old Conq or the new tier 7 Italian med that even has the same turret. Most use the same gun as the tank before, so you are not useless when top tier vs -2 targets. Not many have a worse gun then the one before it. St. Emil is one of them, as he more or less has less pen then even the two tanks before it with that gun. Inc the tier 5.

Tho most of the newly added lines, inc the French HT's or even the old Borsig. The stock guns have pen and DPM. The top gun have alpha.

but you can always convert the exp from your premium tanks into free exp with gold, or grind free exp, but is slower, even tho you can buy premium time and get more free exp per battle.

in other words give WG money to skip your frustration

but remember once you get all the top gear on your tank, youll face other problems...for example youll meet tanks 2 tier higher then yours, so bring a lot of "premium" ammo to have any chance to pen them, and when you shoot you can always see your shell fly higher/lower/ or more on the left/right then where you are aiming, and on top of that there is also some juicy rng on your penetration.

but if everything goes into your favor, youll be an happy customer, untill they will nerf/change the tank you paid for.

welcome to WOT enjoy your stay, "aslong you pay"

Yes and no. I haven't played a stock tank in at least 4 years as I always have enough free xp accumulating to elite any new tank that I aquire.
Stock tanks are a horror, the likes of which I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.
PS. The last bit might be a lie.

The intention is that you should work for things, not have them handed to you on a plate.

If that means you needto play a tank in stock form in order to unlock the engines, tracks, guns, etc, then youhave tolearn to live with that.

The alternative is to earn free xp on other tanks ( or convert otherxp into free xp) and skip the grind.

The good thing about stocktanks is that they magically stop being stock tanks after a certain amount of matches.

Apart from that, they give you the opportunity to discover the strengths and weaknesses of a tank. Even on a reroll account.

If I were an aide to Wargaming I would hardly recommend the free xp solution, but if I were an aide to you, then I would suggest going through the grind for reasons Jigabachi mentioned and also to keep the game interesting in the long run (ultimately this will benefit WG too, so whateves, just don't free xp it ).

ok, ok, Op, you will receive some advices here, i don't do that but you can do it

use premium ammo

use free exp to 'unstock' your tank

I don't do that

I use HE on stock guns if i cannot pen

that because i need to keep my low stats low

Last stock tank I played apart from tier X was the Tiger II something like five years ago, and that was only because I skipped the Tiger H and pretty much everything before it.

Stick your hand in your pocket mate, works wonders.

On tanks like t-44 which has horrible stock gun I will use free xp.

It is made like this for people to spend gold on free xp etc.

I dont mind using 20k free xp for the top gun on a tank, but when you have top guns costing 60k xp + maybe 20k xp for upgraded turret on skoda T50 f.example, thats 80k + upgraded tracks, then you can enjoy the grind, but your stats might already be ruined on that tank.

WG should be fair and make the required xp higher to unlock the next tank and make the required xp for the top guns etc. cost less. Some stock guns are just a joke.

I can honestly say i've never played a stock tank. Unless you count premiums as stock.  I always make sure I have enough 'in the bank' to pretty well max out any tank when I purchase it, to avoid the grind.  It's much easier to make credit and XP in tanks you know, and then spend it on a new tank.  Just saying.

With less than 5K battles and two tier IX tanks, I am guessing that you don't have many crews with impressive skills- unless you always spend gold on training (one of THE best ways to spend it IMHO)

Then, unless you are generating Free XP through paid conversion, I am guessing that you don't have much of that, either.

Either way, you are going to suffer with stock tanks. You can avoid this a little by not rushing the tiers quite so much.

I have got to the stage where my general grinding is so slow that I do accumulate Free XP through normal play, conversion of small amounts when I elite a tank, Personal Reserves and mission prizes. I try to never play a tank stock unless the XP requirements are ridiculous- as they are on the Cent 7/1 to get the second (useless) gun, then the turret and then the top gun. That's 114,000 XP right there!

WG is a business. Any way that they can encourage you to spend money (in this case, through converting XP on Elite and Premium tanks) is going to wash with them. Slow down your grinds and don't give them the satisfaction. :great:

No.

Use free XP that you have earnt elsewhere either by the normal route or by paying gold to transfer it to your free XP stock pile. No stock tank. Q.E.D

that needs either gold or lots of time to grind free xp. I wish we could convert xp with credits
