When someone who's most of the time serious and kind of grumpy makes an effort to be funny you gotta appreciate the effort. Solid 5 out of 10 there. :)

I'm totally gutted that you think I'm serious and grumpy.  Clearly my extreme levels of sarcasm and irony are not working in text form.

OK.  Neal Asher is a British sci fi writer who created a series of 'known Universe' novels, the first of which is called Gridlinked.   It's about an agent of the Earth Central AI, called Cormack.  He's wired into the Grid via implanted augmentations ... and goes a bit mental when his access is cut off.  His weapon of choice is the Thin Gun, a wafer thin pistol that fires nano-missiles.
