Hello

I am on to upgrade my cpu form an old Intel Pentium whit 2 cores. Now my question is that is this game using only one cpu core? Is it better then to have a cpu which has a high clock speed or a cpu whit many cores, 6 in this case.  I am not playing on my PC anything else then wot.

And here are the two options that i was thinking if you have anything to say about them

These two are at the same price where i live

Intel i3 8350K - 4 ghz - 4 cores - and this i would overclock to 4.5 ghz possibly

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - 3.2 ghz - 6 cores - and it says boost 3.6 ghz so i suggest it can't go further then that

Or if you have something better please let me know:)

Thx for all the replies and GL/HF all :)))

Higher clock speed (or rather IPC, see below) is better. Because of DX9, WoT is still mostly single-threaded. They made it more friendly to balance usage out over multiple cores (Vertex data preparation, hence higher details), though, but Single-thread focused CPUs still trump Multi-Thread focused ones considering WoT.

Also, not only the CPU speed in GHz is relevant, but also the IPC (Instructions Per Cycle).

no it uses 2 cores. so i say you would definitely get more fps with the 8350k but it doesnt really matter because even with the ryzen 1600 you should get about 100 fps on average. assuming you have a decent gpu. what other things are you gonna do with your pc besides playing wot?

most ryzen 1600s can be overclocked to ~4 ghz btw

interesting, good job... actually i didnt expect that wot would be somewhat playable on cpus like a pentium D. its from around 2005 and even back then it was quite awful. amd with their athlon 64 x2 was much better.

an old single core like pentium 4 or athlon 64 (if you have one) would be interesting to see too but i doubt wot will be playable there
