I am considering to make a start at any tank destroyer line.

In my Russian Heavy line I am 9k XP and around 750k credits removed from my KV-3, I am planning to remain play with the KV for some days and in those days also use a Tank Destroyer, but what would be the best choice?

I think this is the plain benefits for each tank destroyer line:
Russian: Big guns
German: Nice armoured
American: Some can traverse their turret

Russians: Good guns indeed, take some time to get used to them though and get some medicen vs high blood pressure for when you unlock the BL-10, armor is meh.

German: nice armor... with a lot of holes in it though, guns start usefull, mid tier they are awefull and from tier 7 on they are OK again.

US. fun TD line everything is fine and dandy... adn then come the T28 and T95.... be ready to come late to every battle :P armor is ok

I think like all other lines each line has some tanks you will hate and some you will like.

if you say, it speaks for the US line that some can turn their turret ... The slugger was the worst TD I was in ever. the gun is never up to the job. It plays like a clumsy sherman

me, I would go for ze russians ... I like the low design and the big boof guns

Alright. I will get myself the tier 2 TD of the Russians then :P

Still in doubts, as I am not sure if the TD matches my playing style :P

I've so far preferred the German TD line to the Russian (Tier 6 on both, yet to purcase the JpIV). Russian TDs have a rather poor role to fill, as they are expected to get closer to the enemy (due to poor accuracy), but have a low HP pool to draw on, so can't survive return fire very long. The upside to it is that once you learn to snipe with a Russian TD, you become lethal with German guns. (60% winrate with StuG3) :Smile-playing:

Here is my 0.02$

Soviet and German TDs from tier 2 to 6 play in a very similar fashion, with German TDs being overall better from tier2-4(arguably 5) and Soviet being better tier5-6.
US TDs are HE gun spammers tier 2-4,then play completely different tier 5 and 6,they are different in so many ways, you can't really compare objectively which in better.

It's really what comes after that will make you want to decide what line you want to go with.
Ambushers for the Soviets, long range snipers with good armor for the Germans,or very slow, well armed, armored monstrosities for the Americans.

If I had to say what line was best,I'd have to go with German, because despite having a few rotten apples(**cough*jpz4*cough**),I feel as it retains the "tank destroyer" feel the most.
It focuses on long range combat, where the weakspots in the their armor is harder to hit,and where their gun can hit 90% of the time, keeping up a good rate of fire to pump targets full of lead if they dare come out.
The US are nice, turreted TDs are fun,but after that, the last two are too slow for most maps, and the Soviets are too reliant on camo, making them too fragile.Couple that with poor accuracy and you get a tricky gameplay, that often lands you outside the tank destroyer role, and into an assault gun mode.

I have obj704, T28 full, Ferdi full, so I can talk about the 3 lines.

The russian line is overall the easiest, 107mm (167mm pen) at tier 5 (OP), 100mm & 122mm (175mm pen) at tier 6 (OP again), best DPM in game (122mm only 175mm pen tho) at tier 7, BL 10 + good camo and speed at tier 8, same for tier 9.
-> guns with brutal power (but not accurate), good mobility, good camo. the BL10 is a living legend, it's either hell or heaven, you can 2 shot an IS4, or miss him 3 times in a row at 200m. hitting for 750dmg avg is enough to keep me playing for the lulz.

Then comes the german line, the StuG is good as long as it is not matched against several T7 or T8, Jpz4 had good camo/mobility and decent armor against tier 5, but requires to be played as a medium tank to be effective. JPanther is a great sniper with both 88 and 105mm, great guns at T7 (200mm pen, 220/320 dmg), good armor when using hills to increase slope. Ferdi is overall the most efficient TD, a lot stronger than ISU, a lot faster than T28, a great gun, decent armor.

Last but not least is the US td line. I pretty much skipped Wolve & Slugger, couldn't stand them, but they seem to perform decently overall. T25AT is the best T7 TD imo, less DPM / armor than JP, but it's SO FAST, and has insanely good gun depression. T28 has the best front armor of all 3, but can be unreliable = can bounce every T9/10 shells some games, or get pen everytime by T8s another game, it's slow, the gun has fast ROF and 2nd best accuracy, lowest alpha tho.

My ranking :
tier 5 : SU85
tier 6 : SU100
tier 7 : T25AT
Tier 8 : situational, quite well balanced, Ferdi is a better allrounder though
Tier 9 : same as T8, they are situational, overall the 704 seems to perform better, followed by T95 and JT last because people play it too agressive.

at tier 8 and 9, nation is up to personal preference, they are all balanced and capable of doing a great job, just find the one that suits you the best. personnally I like to play all of them :P

US because they have pretty good guns and speed or armor.

I have 704, JT and T28.
Which do i prefer? ....I can discount the T28 as it is no where near the firepower/armour of the other 2. Out of the JT or 704 which do i prefer?? it is close, really close. Once you have tasted the sheer brutality of the BL10 it makes it hard not to like...however, the frustration of the BL10 (it can miss even at obsecenly close ranges and bounce off tanks that is can 1 shot with ease) sometimes gets you down. The JT ..it's mr reliable, you know if you aim fully in it will hit whatever you are aiming at, however, it does not have the same initial BOOM factor that the BL10 does and ROF does not appear to help unless your target is a long way away.

I love them both, for different reasons.

If they make a Tier 10 TD it NEEDS the 704 gun and speed with JT armour and accuracy! Nirvana :)

Points at which individual TD lines are fun. (*) are my personal favourites

Russian:
-SU85
-SU100
-ISU (with BL10)*
-Object (with BL10)*

German:
-Marder II
-Jagdpanther*
-Ferdinand
-Jagdtiger*

US:
-Wolverine*
-Slugger
-maybe the T25 will be with the 105

I think the TD's not mentioned here range from average to outright horrible.
Personally I would recommend either the German or Russian line, although in the German the Hetzer/StuG/PzJgrIV are a pain in the ass to get through.

I really didn't like the Russian line and have stopped after the Su-100. The su-85 was good though.

The American line of td's I really enjoyed, the stock T28 is a pain and test server shows the T95 to be really slow, but the USA tds do have character and variation. Some are really fast, like the T82 and the T25.

The Russian tds are a bit similar/boring.

Only got as far as the Marder II on German line but it seems only Jgpnz IV is weak on that line.

I think the best end of line td is the 704 but the Isu-152 looks horrible. No camo, low pen gun for a long time without using free exp, slow and weak armour.

So I would recomend USA tds.

Good TD's on german line are Marder, Hetzer, StugIII, JagdPanther and Ferdinand.

Don't go for JT unless you can play it in platoon exclusively.

It is too glass jawed so it is dependant on communication within platoonmates.

Russian TD line is surprisingly good to be honest.

AT1 is a oneshot wonder, SU-76 and SU-85B both get good guns but they have low hp and have very tiny gun elevation and depression, the tiniest hill will be your worst enemy, so they're not for everyone.

SU-85 and SU-100 are madly good though.

SU-85 can mount the 107mm which can easily ruin anyone the MM puts you up against.

SU-100 brings the firepower of a Jagdpanther at tier6, with basicly same armour as JagdPanzerIV and more speed.

Germans:
- Jagdpanzer IV at tier 6
- Jagdtiger has some serious weakspots
+ Fun low tiers
+ Ferdi is a beast

Sovjets:
- Less fun low tiers
- Lacks penetration at Tier 7 (175)
+ Fun 5 and 6 tiers
+ Amazing cammo
+ BL-10 on 704 and ISU, although it does have will of its own

USA
- Too diverse playing style, from HE spammers to turrets to heavy armored slow behemots
+ T25 AT is a serious contender for the the spot the JP held for a long time.

Also it is not just the the BL-10 that has a life its own. Also the 128mm L/61 tends to doing more what it wants than you want it do.

Soviet or USA if you want to go to the end depending on which you'll want to specialize in.

T95 is the only TD useful in Clan Wars on some maps and with the upcoming buffs and HE nerf it will be quite OP.
