I tried to purchase prem time on my account yesterday, paypal declined the card, couldn't be arsed going through paypal customer service so left it since their CS is about as much use as any large company CS dept.

Tried to use my debit card to buy some paint today (same one registered to paypal) card was declined

Phoned the bank, put though to fraud dept, they said the attempted payment to WG was flagged because they're recieving a large ammount of fraudulent activity related to that company, so my card was blocked.

Wife hears the phonecall to the bank, asks me WTF I'm wasting money on games for, GG WG that was all I needed Edited

2 hours of my life I'll never get back. GG WG, sort out your customer services issues so you don't get so many charge backs.

To avoid you life being put on hold I suggest nobody makes any payments to WG until they have resolved this issue.

posted in gameplay so as many people as possible get the warning.

Well, last Friday IIRC Visa and MasterCard had huge problems all over Europe this might or might not be related to that.

Nope, I asked them that, they said it was the payment to WG flagged my card for possible fraudulent activity, so they blocked it.

I have no problem to believe this even if you are lying, it would only confirm WGs lack of sincerity towards their customers. They have hundreds of millions of dollar revenue and they dont even care to fix their own economic department before they provide all kinds of game ruining offers to their customers.

The longer East you get, the longer West you should keep your money in your pocket I say.

So the bank got paranoid and it's everyone else's fault?

I mean WG did have issues on stolen cards used for chargebacks here a few years ago. Most from the same nation. So I suspect that's why some banks are more paranoid if they see that name pop up. Personally, I've always used paypal with WG for years. Never had a single issue, as I guess my bank is less... paranoid about it.

On what basis do you assume that any such problem is at WG's end? WG has no ongoing payment type transactions to mess up. If the OP is being honest, then it would far more likely be because of people making transactions then cancelling them or claiming fraud.

Furthermore, you are saying that even if the OP is lying, it proves that WG did something wrong. Good luck with that argument....

Perhaps your bank is in on the scheme and before you know it, you will find yourself homeless on the streets, begging for money. This is WG after all.

:teethhappy: probably... but an hour trying to buy a tin of paint filling in web forms, followed by an hour in 2 automated call center queues also contributed

It's probably all the fault of that wanker in the paypal dispute thread :playing: :P

I think it’s entirely possibly as Natwest do have some algorithms running to detect fraudulent activity. I do have first hand experience of when they may go wrong.

Didn't NatWest recently get jumped on by the FCA for not flagging up possible fraudulent activity fast enough?  Probably over reacting so they don't get slapped with another fine.

I too seem to recall them getting bad press at some point, can't remember why any more though.

This was a several years ago and associated with travelling abroad. I did ask whether I can just tell them when I’m travelling but nope they have an algorithm for that.
