Hey Guys!

 

How to fix Arty?

"Arty prevents camping" - not that accurate anymore.

 

Here some options which could arty prevent camping:

  • You could denie the artys shots at fixed Squares on the map.
    • works only during first few minutes (most of the time)
  • You can remove dmg from arty and just let the stun
    • players will still complain about the stun
  • You can remove arty
    • I think to much gamechanging
    • arty aint going to prevent camping since its not here anymore
  • You can remove stun 
    • players will still complain about the accurasie and dmg arty puts on them

 

All of those options have drawbags but I think that following idea will have pretty much no drawbags and most of the playerbase is going to enjoy it (not everybody can always agree):

 

What if we take the idea of fixed squares on the map and make it dynamic not static. f.e:

  • If a player is less than f.i.200m(number can be changed with maps f.e.) away from an enemy player, then he cann't get shot by arty 
    • friendly fire from arty gets removed 
    • only exception: if the enemy is a light tank (tier 5+) 
    • so arty can just prevent camping or do nothing
  • Arty can still shot tanks which never got spotted even if an ally tank is 200m near it
  • Arty can shot enemies if they are f.i. 200m away or if they are spotted (so they can defend themselves)
  • arty sees players which it cannt shot in a special color

 

If the idea is not possible do too the calculates (with the distanz) (which i dont think)

  • players cannt get shot at by arty if they hit a player or got hit by them (dynamic numbers of time)
    • also different color for arty
    • exception for lights of course

 

And yes the arty missions should get easier, becouse thats an arty nerf.

 

What do you think of my idea? Is it good or is it bad?

There's an artillery discussion thread for you to post your suggestions in so the forum doesn't get spammed with artillery "fix" threads... not that it seems to help. I'd suggest posting your ideas there, this thread will just get closed.

I'd say that according to your profile - arty sux as it is. In most arties your WR is way worse then your average. Why to nerf it even more? Anybody, who plays arty against you is increasing your chances to win -no?

Arty is good in the game.  If they had a faster Re-Load Time, they could add more support for the Team.  Just remember to try to Light-Up Enemy Targets.  That way they have something to shoot at.  Don't Camp next to Arty and fall asleep, you can go fight but keep in mind to protect Arty in the game.  Why?  Because they are a Key to success in Wiping -Out the 15 Members of the Red Team.  If the Team Wins, I Win, because the Red Team will not rest until you are gone.  I wish they had a Karl Mortar Premium.

you just post stuff here without any further information

and people have to guess.

 

on topic:

 

bad idea.

keep the stun stuff for HE, bring back special ammo like AP, APCR, HEAT

and increase mobility and accuracy

but limit to 1 per team to make things predictable.

 

PS: in general, I am for a bigger diversity in shell types.

keep 3 slots for all tanks except Artillery and TD which should only have 2 ammo slots.

open up all shell types for every vehicle (increase gold ammo price to  a range of 125% for premium HE to 300% for HESH)

and maybe add "special ammo" like concrete and smoke shells.

PPS: in yugoslavia they upgraded the M36 Jackson with HEAT shells back then.

1 per team at lower tiers is a good idea. Higher tiers (7+) have slow reload time, so having 2 there does not change much.

Each of these circles has a radius of 2 squares, i.e., 200m. Within these circles arty isn't allowed to target enemy players according to this "fix".

You might as well remove arty then if it cannot shoot anything.

Nerf this, buff that, my head is in a spin, I think Bertie needs a major buff, to both range and damage, that is a fun little arty to play.

well the 200m are subject to change so it could also be 75/100m or less

i suck at playing arty yes but there are players which are better and if i play aggresiv and try to win but then get every 25 sec a 15sec stun i cann't do much and i have no fun whatsoever

so that means you get sometimes oneshotet and still get every 25 sec a stun  while playing aggresiv sounds like old+new arty combined

That arta prevents camping is a myth. Think about it. Where do most campers sit? At the back or behind a house. How do you spot players at the back? You don't. How do you shoot players behind a house? You don't. The only thing arta does is to punish the players that actually take initiative and try to push for new positions.

 

It's really simple: arta should be removed.

Arty was here long before tanks, so its quite natural it is in the game. 

Its close to impossible to carry a game in arty and yet people whine. 

Conclusion: the arty "problem" is a mental problem, and you dont fix that on this forum.

Arty is generally using targets of opportunity. If you are getting hit in almost every battle like that, then you seem to confuse "aggressive" with "careless". Or you are overreacting, and in fact, arty does not have that much effect on you. You are just searching for an escape goat to vent your frustration over one or two games where you went gun-ho and got blasted.
