I ask this question to experienced T10 players, what are the real, tangible benefits of bothering to aspire to grind all the way to Tier 10?, apart from the obvious of doing it for it's own sake.

I am only at T9 (1 arty) and I find that the T8 and 9 games are no more fun than Tier 4 to 7 games, but, they have the added pressure of losing credits, unless you have a good score on the winning side. Also, the equipment is mega XP to research, and then expensive in credits to buy.

I play the game only for fun and enjoyment, and frankly the higher tier game I get into, the less enjoyable it seems to be, well most of the time. And, most perplexing of all, the game-play is just as illogical as in the mid tiers, this was a surprise to me when I first went into T9/10 games, I honestly (naively?) expected a higher standard.

So, I cannot see any real benefit for all the effort, so wondered have I missed something?

You answered your own question. The only 'real' benefit would be never being -2 in mm.

No not really, tier 9 and 10 is the clickbait they have to get more revenue from the game.

You get a fantastic powerful tank but so does everyone else.

You said it yourself its little different but you lose credits, if you have a bad game or you are just an average or sub average player you will lose credits.

Even with a premium account you will at times lose credits.

At the moment I see little point going above tier 7 even the tier 8 premiums do not earn as much due to the MM

Time was I could plan on getting 60-80k profit with a tier 8 premium while a good game at tier 10 probably gets me 10k

I am not good enough to do better at that level of play.

I am hovering around 29 million credits playing tier 9 and 10 tanks prevents that going up more.

If I stop playing those tiers and stick to lower tiers that number will continue to rise.

I have to stop playing them much anyway 6 days of premium time left of my 180 days and no incentive to buy more.

I grind the one I think are maybe fun to play, as I have already encountered them as enemy or because I have similar lower once to play, and because I am interested in how they actually perform in my hands.
And I like playing against the top of the trees, to see how I myself can perform.
Sometimes good sometimes bad so far ;-)

I think I used my only tier10 the IS7, about a dozen times, got bored fast, never played it again. The main draw of course is having one of the best tanks in the game which has more hp, shoots faster, aims faster, does more alpha per shot, see's farther, moves faster has more armor... some combination of being better. You also get what's effectively preferential mm at it's very best whereby at worst, you will be equal tier but often you will be top tier vs half a team of tier9 or better yet, 12 lower tier tanks including vs 8 tier8 pinatas. Other than that... whatever floats your boat.

Highest tier advantages

- You get to be top tier more

- You can be 268v4

Disadvantages

- long (or expensive) grind to get there

- lose credits (does not apply to all unicorns)

- players who suck at lower tiers will also suck at high tiers

- matches are more boring

- OP tanks

If you like low tiers, play low tiers

If you like mid tiers, play mid tiers

If you like high tiers, play high tiers

Tier 10 became worse and worse every patch. Full tier 10 mm, 268 v4 (which shouldn't last long, hopefully), arties, super heavies spamming HE like braindead apes etc.... Atm it makes no sense to grind a tier 10 and hoping having fun with them tbh. Especially since there is no balance at all, there are either good (some op) tanks which are usable on one side and trash tanks which are completely irrelevant on the other, and obviously arties which prevent camping, true fact.

But I didn't, you suggested a real benefit I had not thought of.

Thanks all, I have made my mind up, I'm staying where it's fun, and much cheaper.

I have spent a fair bit in gold, mainly using it to convert free xp, I don't regret it as I have unlocked many of tanks in nearly all the lines up to T6-7, but as I get higher I see less benefit in doing so, and certainly less fun and satisfaction that I get in the mid tiers, so it stops here!

You schould never unlock Tanks with free xp. (Only some exceptions to some real bad tanks are ok.)
I mean especially the lower tiers are just done in a handful of battles so why waste the freee xp like that? I did the failure myself and learned.
Use the free xp to unlock the modules to not drive the new tanks stock. That way you don’t sacrifice yourself to much, and make the grind itself not so hard.

Yeah tier 10 is pretty awful at the moment. I'd recommend playing tier 9 at the highest. If you prefer lower tiers then all the better.

Personal missions are one incentive. I don't play tier x much myself, because of the terrible balance there, but I'm currently grinding some tanks to tier x for the harder pm's because I consider them content of sorts.
