Maximum Stun Duration?

OK, I play a lot of arty (damn my black heart) and , to this day, I don't recall ever seeing a shot inflict the max stun duration for the given vehicle.

My T92 is supposed to have a max stun duration of 35 seconds but rarely exceeds 25, even with direct hits on relatively light vehicles.


 

Maybe it's just a touch of observational bias but I am curious if anyone else has actually hit max?

Just a guess, but its most likely for penetrating shots only

That's the odd thing - direct, penetrating hits that do a fair amount of damage included, still never hit the magic number.

Stun duration is heavily slanted towards the minimum duration. You can easily have all the stuns you caused within a match being within two or three seconds of the minimum time (and several of them being the exact minimum duration) and nothing ever approaching the maximum time.

Heck, even being halfway in the middle (for example something like 15 seconds when the stun ranges from 10 to 20 seconds) is already a rare occurrence.

 

Basically if it's stun duration you are seeking for on a SPG then forget about the maximum, the minimum stun duration is the only important stat here.

Yes, that's pretty much how I figured it - bit like the 'max broadband speed' you have zero hope of actually getting.

Penetration -> shells go trough armor

Splash -> Shell hit near the tank / or in it , unabe to go trough

 

TO have maximum stun potential you should penetrate the tank ( deal ~1200 damage )

But I do hit them directly AND pen.

I haven't really seen many penetrating shots with arty. After the great nerf i maybe got like 2 penetrations. You know because you deal big damage when you do, like we used to see before. Very very rare i deal over 1k and forget about one shots. Hell even direct shots in likes of Grille's almost never reach 1k damage. I remember damage to around 300-400. That's pathetic. It's probably something different. As i feel that highest stun times i deal are on very close to target splashes rather than direct hits. Also it's possible that you may have dealt a high stun time but you have't seen it because the enemy used a kit. That happens often. Super heavies like Type many times are not even damaged and get low tun times like 2-5 sec. Other tanks, fast light armored tanks, use kits. Many times i hit and before allies get to shoot to get assist damage, the enemy already used a kit.

Umm, the battle results always lists the initially caused stun durations and don't subtract medkit usage.

I've not played my US SPG's much of late to notice. But my current grind in the French tier 9. It's max stun time is 27. His reload is 25 seconds. On single shots I've seen 22 max. Usually around the 20 to 18 second mark. And I doubt if I pen or not has anything to do on it. As I've seen 22 on a wide splash, as well as a direct hit for full damage. 

 

 

More then 22 I've only seen if I overlap a current stun. Not checked mechanic rules to see how that works. But that's the only time I've seen anything close to 27 seconds.

That, coupled with the MediKit could very well account for things.

bare in mind that since these are seconds, we are only able to see that "magic" number, for only one second, after all, it does tick down afterwards.

I have seen close to max stun durations whenever I penned stuff when I had my M43, and my, if it is satisfying!

I would guess that the stun duration is proportionally linked to how much damage you do, which is linked to how well your HE blast penetrates the tank. How often do you do full damage on your target with an artillery, and leave the tank alive to stun it?

Well true. HT's might use spall liners. But I doubt every med and light have it. Large med kits sure, but even so... you should see 27 sec at least once in the 200+ games it takes to grind a high tier arty.

The actual stun duration consists of two variables, one permanent and one dynamic, and can’t be less than five seconds. The minimum stun duration shows the guaranteed time you’ll spend stunned should you find yourself in the shell burst radius. Plus, you are getting a certain amount of the remaining stun time that depends on the area within the burst radius, the amount of damage you receive from splash, equipment and consumables you mount.

 

Since then we found that when they said it can't be less than 5 seconds what they meant was any stun less than 5 seconds would simply not happen.

 

As stun duration depends on "the amount of damage you receive from splash" it is also subject to the 25% RNG on damage.

maximum stun time i had was about 30 seconds from a t92 with a non penetration hit on my is7...30 secs..wtf ..the stun dmg is the most retarded stuff in this game
