When your toon mates do NOT use teamspeak?

It is one of my biggest frustrations in game, TS or something similar is absolutely essential in TB's or platoons.

Game language if known is above speech.

Reliance on TS nets you a -1 to RR. You will need to perform more cover wraps to compensate.

I cant really run TS, since the baby is a light sleeper and I fear I will verbally vent much more when I am on comms with my toon-mates. I will try it soon though, since a lot of opportunities seem wasted since I cant type and shoot fast enough.

I stopped that stuff all together. When I play games these days, I play them to relax. Talking all the time is something I don't find relaxing.

Besides that, you should care about other things first, but I guess you perfectly know that...

Having a platoonmate on comms who can tell him when he's about to do something daft before he finds out the hard way would probably be beneficial to furthering that goal.

Perhaps don’t platoon with players who don’t use teamspeak then?

No honest need for comms,if your toonmate is at least 1750WN8. I learned this the hard way.

I have some questions about this. I'm new to tooning, and I've only accepted two ingame toon requests so far. Worked out how to switch on the in-game speech (pressing H. I assume this is not TS referred to by OP), but never heard any messages, nor received a reply when I dared to hit the Q button. Does the in-game system work? Would my toonmates have expected me to use TS?

Having read up on TS, with its requirement to log in to a server, is this what players do when accepting a toon request ingame (and if so, how do they know what server/password to use).

Or are ingame invites (as opposed to arranged toons outside of match) useful only for missions that require platoon damage?

I've been thinking more about platooning, but I'm inconsistent in the times I play WOT, and it's often dependent on how good a connection I have when I log on, so planning a toon in advance seems like a pain. How does the whole thing work if you're not a die-hard, play-regularly-every-night sort of chap?

If they do great, they get to hear my inane waffling, if they don't, I reserve the right to sing to them, life's too short to get annoyed at small beer! ;)

Better never toon with me then. I'm an avid tooner, but I can't use voicechat stuff.

That said, I toon to have fun with friends & companions & I trust they know their play better then I do. They're driving their tanks, I drive mine, we have fun & then win/lose.

Many different flavours of tooning. Voicechat isn't needed for more casual tooning really. It can help, but it's not needed for tooning. I never used it myself & I still get more platoonrequest then I can handle, so it's fine.

I don't plan toons in advance either. I log in & either play solo till someone wants a toon, I ask around when I want to toon, or I accept a platoon-invite from an ingame buddy.

Tooning can take many forms, for me it's just a way to have fun, meet new people & have fun with fellow tankers. It's also great when yo'ure having a bad (WoT) day or are grinding some lousy stock tanks, companionship is greatly appreciated in such times.

Generally clan chat is a great way to pick up toons if you got an active clan. There's also the forumite channel for platoon-fun as well (channel: Forumites - PW: play4fun )

Ingame platoon invites are ususally by people who try to complete missions or try & get one of the group award badges (Brother in Arms, crucial contribution etc); so no lasting commitment there. In rare cases it can end up in a platoon tho, when you run into that rare fellow tank in randoms who's play complements yours.

Funny how you perform well with a non-TB-meta tank and no voice comms. :D

I avoid platooning with anyone unless there is some kind of voice comms going on

Well there i beg to differ, talking to the good players has helped me a lot, still does, and so has turning off chat, some of these good players even use XVM, a good player is not one who focus's on stats, but one who has a laugh and is non judgemental, that is my benchmark of a good player.

You are quite judgemental of people you have never met, I can safely say this that these people I toon with could just as easily go up against you, or any of the Dingers and hand you [edited]to you, yes they are that good and yes they have no qualms about playing with me. like I say good players are the non judgmental players.

I stopped using Teamspeak during WoT 'cause 90% of the time everyone's cursing about mechanics anyway, myself included. A significant portion of the other 10% is devoted to pointless distractions about somebody's personal life like how hung over they are or their dog barking in the background.

Pick a flank during countdown, click map or press T for the rest, no voice required or desired.
