Granted, this is not my idea.

Instead, it is taken directly from WoT's sister-game, World of Warplanes:

Basically, each piece of equipment will give both a bonus and a malus.

Both of which can be increased by improving the equipment.

Improving the equipment will add a semi-random bonus to the piece as well.

 

Ideas? Comments? Opinions?

I do find it funny that WOWs and WOWP have both re-qorked their equipment to my knowledge and are younger games, but despite saying for years they would re-work equipment and crews we have seen nothing.

 

I am not sure I like the downsides, but I do think we need to see more varied builds to suit different roles. At the moment we basically have go to equipment for each class.  WOWs gameplay is pretty simple compared to WOT gameplay, but the diversity and combinations you can do with their captain skills, equipment and consumables is a lot more in-depth.

Having random bonuses in equipments like in RPGs feels kinda bad. What if you don't get the desired boost? Can you de-buff it, or do you need to buy another piece and try again?

I feel it would be a giant money-sink and RNGfest.

 

Let's extend the equipment slots to four, and make 4 different categories: firepower, mobility, durability, and recon (Different kinds of classes would get different slots: heavies would get 1 firepower / one durability and two global slots, mediums would get one firepower / one mobility / two global, TDs would get one firepower / one recon - vents/camonet could also be moved to it - and two global, lights would get one mobility / one recon / two global, and SPGs would be the only class to have 3 slots in total, with one firepower and two global slots)

For example, the firepower slot would have two pieces of equipment:

Gun Rammer: Reduces reloading time by 7,5%, improves accuracy by 5%. (A gun with 2000 DPM and 0,35 accuracy would be improved to 2150 DPM and 0,3325) - improved version would have 10% reload time decrease and 7,5% accuracy bonus.

Vertical Stabilizer: Aimtime reduced by 5 / 7,5%, gun handling improved by 15 / 20%.

 

Mobity:

Engine Fine-Tune: 5 / 7,5% increase in power, it could possibly replace the fuel consumables

Speed Limit Removal: Increases the top speed by 7,5% for light tanks, 10% for mediums, and 15% for heavies, TDs and SPGs

 

Durability:

Spall Liner: Heavy Spall Liner reduces stun duration by 7,5%, and reduces incoming non-penetrating HE damage by 15% - Superheavy Spall Liner does the above with 10 / 20%

Upgraded Tracks: Load limit increased by 10%, track health increased by 35%

Wet Ammorack: Increases ammorack durability by 50%, reduces total ammo count by 10% (not sure about the ammo count reduction)

 

Recon:

Ventilation System: Unchanged, but open-topped vehicles could automatically get  a 5% increase in crew skills

Camo Net: Unchanged

Binoculars: Unchanged

Coated Optics: Unchanged

why would you even rework the equipment, is like watching your house on fire and thinking if you should repaint your walls, i mean with all the broken things doesnt rly matter leave them as they are tbh.

That just means they got it wrong to start with.

 

In the case of WoWP, I think the devs are determined to kill the game off.  Clearly reworked equipment was more important than finishing tech tree lines.  It just adds more complexity.  And I don't really fancy logging on and reworking the dozen or so planes I've got which is a huge disincentive for me to bother playing.

 

I really don't want to have to go through doing admin on 100+ tanks.  It was bad enough when they reworked the crew skills. :angry:

I had an idea not long ago to spend bonds on a directive which allowed an extra equipment slot for any tank...then this happens. :D

 

I dunno...I guess I like the change, somewhat.

 

But the more interesting patch note from that article, is specialising planes after they've been elited. Imagine that feature with tanks... I'm wet.

Why stop there? If someone wants to use their credits and add extra weight to their vehicle, why shouldn't they be able to equip everything available for the vehicle? It's not like different equipment nullifies each other's effect.
