So today i found myself in need of some credits and decided to wheel out the SPershing for the first time in a long while, after 3 games I've decided the best thing to do is just take it out to the barn with a shotgun and put it out of its misery, its outgunned, out armoured and flat out outclassed by nearly everything else at tier 8 and half the tier 7's, once it was the king, now its just a pathetic remnant of its former self, nerfed to death so WG can try and sell me another premium tank.

Having made me millions of credits back in the day i felt it just deserved this obituary as a monument to the fallen heroes of "power creep" and "pay to win" that have taken over the game.

Well, it's up to you, I still like it.  If you had no need for the money you could have waited to see what WG will do with it (as with every other prem mm)

It's the one that suffers the least of the pref MM premiums. As in his gun is the same or better vs the other US tier 8 Meds with +2 MM. And thus he is not waving a 175 pen gun vs 220mm HT armor. Its mobility you can ofc argue about. But on the medium line even in a +1 game, it's far from the worst thing you can be in. As for the armor, it still works. As it's stronger vs when you bought all those years ago anyway. Issue is that most know where to hit it now, vs before I suspect. As it's not my hull that's full of holes when I play it. It's the MG port and the external springs above the gun that always get hit. Showing they know how it works.

It's ammo is still dirt cheap, and it still has 50K + profit games. More then I can say for my IS-6.

Eh i do nothing but spam gold in it thanks to the god awefull aimtime for a sluggish tank. no dpm. crappy alpha on a weak spot ridden trashcan.

gold ammo is the only decent thing on it.

Well to be fair this was in the days before every other shell that hit you was APCR, just did a quick test, in 3 games in the E-25 i made twice as much money, and felt half as much like a (slow) moving giant bullseye.

In its day it used to roll out 100k+ games pretty easily, now if it makes 30k its impressive, and if you have fire gold to get it then it denies the whole point of driving it.

Welcome to all preff tanks. thanks to the powercreeps at tier 8+ you gotta spam gold, they simply dont make credits anymore unless you tryhard with AP.

HD model destroyed the tank,

WG removed the second armor spaced plate,

and now pretty much everyone can shoot through it's upper frontal plate "no problemo".

The time where the UFP could stop tier 9 TDs has way long gone.

Nah, they split the armor off the hull and made is 2 spaced plates, there was armor limitations back then when they couldent model 3 armor pieces from 1 armor point, now they can. (what i heard anyways) but the thickness/plates are the same regardless. its just that the armor doesent do anything because of how many weak spots there is.

The SP was workable for me back then... Not anymorr.. Nowadays you have to stand ground and pen all yr shots.. specially now vs the new op t8 and t9 tanks..

You might be right about that, but still

I do remember the armor holding even against tier 9 TDs,

now it gets YOLOpenned everywhere,

so no, I don't think it's the same.

I still remember a game, where a T34 went through the UFP twice in a row, and alot

of the time when I face SPs in my Tier 9 heavies I just shoot there.

only thing they did in HD was buff useless parts of the armor and ripped the armor that was supposed to be the spaced plate off the actual hull. turning it into armor/ spaced/ spaced. but powercreep happened and weak spots on SP are massive.

https://tanks.gg/tank/t26e4/model

look at the armor model yourself and see how RNG the hull is. its terrible and inconsistent
