More like WG listening too much to whiners and constantly dumbing down the game to make it easier to understand for plebs.

Also 1.0 does not really look better...at least not for me (on my potato computer).

Naturally there will always be a decline in an MMO this old...but the decline lately has been crazy...both in the quality of the players who are online...but also in the total amount of players...

Funnily, the service for less people is worse than it used to be for more players: server crashes, chat, friend list...

They have developers who do not know about a tank game :/ Maybe they should be better in metal slug.

WG happened and also 4 WC games on TV and decent boxing on as well so today could be extra hard hit.

400 000? Most I've seen in all the years I've been here is 200K during Xmas tbh, Think the highest I've seen on my screens over the years is 225K. As we all know how the server is with 100K on each one crashing once a day, so imagine 200K.

Tho numbers do indeed show that the total amount of players daily is on a new low. Peak hour numbers is actually high for the summer, even during the heatwave. As it was barely 50K last year around this time. Tho I suspect FL and now Football has something to do with it.

Well I hardly did play when it was 32 degrees here, and 23 degrees over midnight here 2 weeks ago. And none of my mates have played recently as they are watching football instead. Tho looking at my old screens from around June/July the past few years. 2016 had several over 100K around this time. But going by the missions on my screens. It was around the time the Rampage and steel hunt "beta" was. Dropped right after it, did not go over 100K again until Sept.

Tho as I said, the daily logins are even lower then 4 years ago, even tho the peak numbers are fairly close to the norm. Starting before FL and the KV-5 announcement. So something besides the weather and football has affected that.

The number of players that played per week is the lowest it has been in 4 years as is the number of new registered players. But it's not the end of the month...yet.

Plus weekday evenings often have higher player numbers than weekends. But these are only around 100k.

There are indeed several reasons why the player count looks low. Frontline mode itself, backlash from it (credits, players rediscovering 'dynamic gameplay;), hot weather and now the World Cup and the WoT-Football mode.

Doubt the numbers will be relevant until the end of the football mode, and comparable weather - depends a bit on how the 'active players' are counted. Still looks like a clear decline, the 'special' modes in the past did not seem to remove a significant amount of players, and most should still be counted as 'active' provided they don't play football exclusively.

Worth nothing that the decline is not just on EU, but apparently for all servers. The weather is not global. That would suggest either errors in the data provided or something else. Perhaps 'time after a change' is the cause here. Would be interesting to track player numbers after other 'major' events, but I can't honestly think of any (except 1.0; which seems like it performed under expectations).

1.0 looks bad, nothing to do with my laptop from 2004 though

Pretty scary curve there indeed...seems release 1.0 didn't help much according to that one...and indeed...lowest amount of players ever...my suspicions where right it seems....

Edit: Also it seems this thread just got the seal of approval from Qpranger    :medal:     :great:      :playing:

My computer is not that bad. First of all...its not a laptop *shudders*...I am a gamer with some self respect....

It might be like 10 years old but the funny thing is its an Intel i7-2600 CPU @ 3,4 GHz, 12 RAM DDRX, 64 bit system and an Nvidia GTX 550ti.

So at the time of the purchase it was quite the monster and its kind of funny about processors...I'm sure they developed a bit...but an i7 is kind of still in the best processor-family that you can get today. (Kind of funny that evolution....)

Hate to drop some truth bombs here, but im going to doubt that was ever considered to be a "monster" in anywhere else than third world countries

3-5-7 happened.

The funny thing about 3-5-7 was that it actually was pretty good when it was introduced. MM was very smooth. You could play any tier and you actually wheren't bottom tier that often.

But just like 1-2 weeks after that, they changed how it worked. I think tier 10 players whined about playing too much against other tier 10's. Anyhow, that change skewed everything. Now ANY tier you played you where bottom tier most of the time...except tier 10 that kind of got "better".

Not sure exactly what they changed...but that nuked it.

And now its funny about this 3-5-7...it doesnt seem like they can change it or remove it. I guess someone higher up signed on it and doesn't want to loose "face" now or something....
