It was a stifling summer night in The Gameplay Bar. Patrons, entranced and mesmerized by huge TV transmitting the World Cup did not notice doors opening. New silhouette silently slid in. Visitor calmly surveyed the interior he used to know so well. Old faces looking just as alien as new ones. He used to be a regular here, until that fateful day when huge Maus fell into barrel, spoiling the beer, finally sending him away in search of new place to pass the time. That was over a year ago, a year and four months to be precise. A lot has changed for him, ups and downs, but no matter what place he tried, no bar had same atmosphere and company as this one. Unnoticed, this guest walked towards corner with empty table, musing about past.

Suddenly, there was a burst of activity. Someone shouted "Remove arty!", visitor smiled, it's good to know that some things never change, and yet, reaction of patrons was different. Did the owners really change something? Did the patrons finally slide into this awful depressed stupor where they don't care about anything any more? Or perhaps forumites, he shuddered at the thought, accept artillery this days? He pushed this thought away, it couldn't be, that would mean milieu he knew and loved didn't exist any more.

Minutes passed, visitor wasn't sure if beer here was ever any good. It certainly wasn't the reason he stuck here so long. Even as owners started to blatantly water the beer down, it was the entourage he stayed for. Entourage he sorely missed. But should he really do it? Maybe it is better to cherish what memories he had? What if old friends changed too much? Will they even recognise him? All he knew is that indecision has plagued him for too long already, curbing it was one of the foci of changes he worked on since he last had a drink here. Whatever the decision, he needs to make it now.

Guest stood up and started walking towards the counter to order a beer...

Good evening lads and ladies. Yours truly, Tidal_Force, is coming back for a short while.

I plan to launch game again next Friday (22nd, one day short of 16 months since I stopped playing) and I estimate my stay to be around a week. How were last 16 months for you? UrQuan? Baldrickk? LRS? Vonnis? Desyatnik? Waffle? Saukko? Schmeks? Muffin? Gpalsson? Others whose names escape me now? Quite frankly, I admit that I missed you, and I wish to play with you again. May I briefly join you in your relentless fight against tomato tide (as if I won't be total tomato after such break, hah)? Those of you who still continue the fight against tomato tide, that is.

Thank you. From what I gathered, my issues with game were not resolved, so that's why I predict my stay to be quite short.

I think it's a shame you missed Frontline, as it added a glimpse of how the game could evolve with different game modes that still utilise the basic skills required to operate your tank.

gpalsson did pop in last week and we had a chat. He promised to look back in again soon so he might be around?

Tell me more about this mode.

That's nice to hear. I haven't played with him since first sandbox, I think. He left after first sandbox, I have seen him on the forum a few times since, but never in game, at least not until I stopped playing.

Too much wall ICBA. No offence intended. Concise, accurate and with integrity is good, and hard to find in these parts. Good luck.

You spawn and res-pawn in tier 8's with your re-spawns dependent on how long you live. So you can't just yolo and yolo and expect to keep getting a new tank.

One team attacks, one defends on a map that's 3x3 (as in 3 standard maps wide/high). Each stack of three maps has cap areas and some guns at the top to "kill" and a collapsing timeframe that the attacking team can extend if they cap zones on their way to the guns. There is a "meta" to the game, but it requires you to use all your random skills and then read a bigger map area and some of the skills you need in team modes as well like focus fire.

XP earned works on your grinds and it pays well for credits, with games lasting around twenty mins.

Given how negative the playerbase can be, the feedback was very positive. Apparently they need to work out some server/graphics issues before it comes back. But it did run for a while.

A lot of players are asking for it in other tiers as well.

Sounds a bit like merger of MOBA (haven't actually played any MOBA, so basing it on what I heard about them) and WoT. Was there any serious interplay between lines (I assume there are kind of lines, based on "each stack of three maps" )?

Now imagine how long it takes to get to the toilets. Management really needs to improve.

Yes, you could either respawn in a different line or drive across. That was part of the "skill" to read the flow of a 30 v 30 player game and work out where to place yourself.

The Halls of Fame are open wide

Their rooms are never full,

And some go in by the door marked "Push"

And some by the door marked "Pull".

I enjoy reversal in your post. Usually battlecounts are posted to track if someone really does quit, here it will be used to count how long I can endure the madness.

Wellcome back Tidal_Force. If you will need a platoon mate and I'm in the channel, just ask! ;)

I found that platooning greatly reduce the impact of the madness wave on my brain. Hope it will works for other too. :)
