Ever since two patches ago whenever the login screen appears in the client (type name and password), ALWAYS the Windows 8/8.1 START screen appears.  So weird.  Anyone else has this issue too?

Mine at times will load up WoT to login screen then switch to desktop, Win10.

But I think on mine it's caused by Nvidia "pop up" telling me about recording game or whatever.

All I have to do is then click on WoT client to make full screen.

I doubt anyone could recreate exactly your issue with your setup because MS offered a free upgrade to Windows 10 for about 2 years and because it is so much better than windows 8.1, everybody with any sense took them up on their offer

Right, ok, keep using the "much better" Windows 10 if you want.  I am not going to get into that discussion again.  I am tired of getting into discussions with stupid people.

Yes but the "fault" also occurs in the much improved Win 10!

I would get that if you said Windows 7. But Windows 8 vs 10? Well, that must have been an interesting discussion.

My point was that if he preferred 7 over 10 I would get it. But I've never head anyone saying 8 is better, then 10 or even 7 tbh.

I have several old PC's here to play old games on the real hardware. I have one Win 95 "3dfx voodoo 1", 98 SE "Voodoo 5", XP on another "AGP Geforce". Then one rig with Windows 7 and 10 on this. I skipped Vista and 8 as they had terrible game support to name one. Atm I use 10 over 7 on my main due to DX12 support to name one, tho I only own 5 games that support it.

I know I was the first one to tease the OP on still using windows 8.1 but tbh windows 8.1 was good, I would even go as far as saying it was on par with windows 7 as long as you made a couple of modifications to it (like installing startisback) because it was faster.

However, Windows 10 is a big step up from windows 7 and 8.1.

It's a lot faster, you can get the start menu back again with startisback so it looks like the good ol' windows that we know & is far better integrated with the web and with gaming. I can't see why anybody would chose Windows 8.1 over 10 apart from windows 10 forcing windows update, but that be be avoided simply by setting your internet connection as metered.

Because Windows 10 spies on you, anything from files you open to what you type, to anything and everything.  If you don't know about this ffs read about it.  If you know about it and don't care, that's your problem.  Now I am done, I am not spending more time talking about windows [edited]big brother 10 edition.

Yea but you can just buy a tin foil hat to solve that problem so still no reason to stay on 8.1

to clear the whole "windows 10 spying on you" thingyjig, you can actually make your data private, it lets you do that in their settings.

Also, I have never used 8.1, but I have not heard much praise from it. however, windows 7 will always be a winner

Spies? Well, they did the exact same info gathering when Windows 8 was new. So idk why ppl freaked out when 10 did it. Then again this forum even does that, as they did mention in the new EULA. And the other info gathering is off by default in the newer privacy settings they added 2 years ago. IIRC, there is no setting to turn that off for windows 8. So what's your point?

But considering how long it is since windows 8.1 got a security update. I suspect MS spying on you is the least of your OS's issues. Windows 7 got a user made security update. Sadly no one did that for 8.1.
