I just finnished the line.

M46:

A word of advice, free exp the top gun and turret if you can. If you must choose one or the other, get the gun. You won't need to top turret to mount it.

Train repairs for all your crew members. Tracks will repair in ~3.6s which saves you a repair kit = credits.

Pen is adequate.

Hulldown sucks because the turret is paper. But it can deflect the occasional shot. Just don't get hit on the sides.

It's not really fast but mobility won't let you down. I did not unlock the VII 90mm (not worth it) and the top engine (who cares if it doesn't carry over?)

M48:

Haven't bought it yet, though it's unlocked. But I tried it on the CT server.

Gun handling is like the T92:

You can connect a hit on a shot from Himmelsdorf while moving and the round will not miss that 70km/h moving EVEN 90 on Malinovka (with full crew skills ofc)

Don't know about the armour as I don't remember being hit the times I played it.

Not CW worthy but if you don't have the M60, this is the same just a bit slower with better armour.

M48A5 - since the patch the turret armour scheme is better, and the snap shoot accuracy is god like. The view range is excellent, the camo is poor due to size. Relatively slow, hull has no armour. I like it. As good as USSR meds but in a completely different niche. Puts the other ridge line snipers into the shade, so better than the CAX, AMX 30, STB-1, Leopard 1 etc.

M46 - decent tier IX. Good view range, poor camo. Slow (relative to T54) decent gun handling. Nice gun depression. Can be made to work on most but not all maps. Pretty enjoyable grind.

M26 Pershing - I rather enjoyed this tier VIII, solid if nothing special.

m46: Great tank, but save some free XP to get the top gun as soon as possible. Good dpm, nice gun handling, pen is a bit lacklustre but not problematic. You really don't want to play that much with the stock guns though.

m48 is a beast. The only thing holding it back a bit is the mobility, but if it would be more mobile it would just be blatantly overpowered.

I have not played the 46 for a good while since it was buffed but...

Both have great guns and good alpha.. that is their strength along with the great gun depression so working ridgelines is a must with these two..The 48 can be a beast when doing this due to a good/Better turret than the 46

Cammo is decent but along with the V/R you can take 'Cheeky' upfront positions that will substitute for youre scouts if they are not around..so be prepared to be aggressive when needed and when it benefits...

..they both have decent manouvrebility not the best but 'Enough'...Pen is decent too on the standard rounds so not much need for gold...but if you do decide to take super heavies on frontally you will have the pen to do it with gold.

..The 48 turret is well better than the tier 9 since the buff as it seems to bounce quite alot as long as you dont stay still?

All in all both are nice tanks to play..they exel in nothing but lack in nothing (If you now what i mean?) both good allrounders ..

Oh and ..

They are both solid for their tier.

I have a lot more battles in the tier 9, if its penetration value was a bit better, it could be my favorite t9 med overall.

M48 is pretty solid after the turret armour buff that made it essentialy the M48A5.

Only problem, it is a bit slow moving for as medium.

I didn't really like the gun on the M46,

but the M48 is pretty solid.

Gun handling, pretty good,

Mobility, although not the fastest, only 48kph, but overall mobility good,

armor, the turret is pretty solid against normal rounds, not so good against premium,

but in combination with the gun, you really don't need to expose your self for much,

just poke, shoot, withdraw.

M46 - excellent tank for the tier. Kept it.

M48 - mine is brand new so no personal experience, but I understand it has recently been buffed to a decent status (but perhaps not so good tier-for-tier as the M46). My first and only tier ten.

M46 is great if you can afford a lot of apcr. The pen simply sucks at this point. Back in the day, it was enough but these days 218 or so basic pen is not even enough to pen some T8 tanks reliably from the front let alone T9 and T10 and lets be honest here you cant really flank any time you run into these over armored monstrosities unless you want to give up most of your hp for one shot worth of dmg.

Gun handling is good, gun dep more than enough and the turret can actually hold up pretty well after the armor buff. Just give it M48 patton gun penetration wise while keeping other stats on the same level the current gun has and this tank is good to go in current game environment.

M48 I only played on test server both before and after the buff and this tank is also really good. Pretty much M46 but better in every way as it should be for a tank tier higher. Not that mobile which is common thing for US meds and armor except turret sucks but the rest makes up for it. Especially that ridiculous view range...

No rammer? Blasphemy! Leave vents out and put rammer in. That's a loadout for a autoloader, like BC.

Have the M46 unlocked but havent bought it yet (waiting for discount and got plenty of other tanks to grind in the meantime). So, what if your crew has full BiA, Sit.Aw. & Recon? Can you leave off the Optics for GR, Vents, Vstab? or still keep Optics over Vents?

Vents are some of the most useless equipment in the game, the game now tells you what they do and its pathetic. I had them on amx 30, and on the right where all the info about the tank is it shows the slight improvements all your crew skills, prem food and equipment gives and i noticed vents gave me 0.01m dispersion increase, dpm increase of about 196 or something (thats over a MINUTE!!!!) About 8m view range, 0.5 turret traverse. I thought what a god damn waste of time. So for me ALL tanks now have optics i would have the constant 40m extra view range than the very little vents give me regardless of class (only autoloaders get vents unless they have GLD like emil 1). Early game optics are good for early spots playing aggressively, but they are most important late game, when only a few tanks are left, being able to spot them before they spot you is a real game changer, my meds often outspot lights.

With 25% rng and the dispersion increase of 0.01 does make a mockery of the whole accuracy when we talk about vents. Now alot of players will swear by vents and saying extra view range is wasted on the corridor maps etc and they would like that little bit of extra dpm and overall improvement to crew skills but i would say its suck minor improvements that how many games will it truly effect? Dpm is overated, its rare you are constantly shooting your gun. View range is always there, adding optics also increases your assist damage when trying to mark tanks, and helps the team.

Do you consider grinding BIA perk for crew also useless?

Because vents is like having plus 1 BIA perk with just a click. (with some slight worse performance as stated in Wiki)

I strongly disagree with you, I put vents on nearly all vehicles that are not open toped.

I dropped the optics for vents. 460 viewrange is more than good enough and the extra DPM and gun-handling is more important in the large majority of situations.
