Hey, I was wondering if someone could give me a tip about which heavy tank to buy. I need one for crew training and it will also be used for team battles, clan wars and stronghold battles. If you have another option besides those 2, leave them in the comments. Thank you!

Churchill III is the best crew trainer.

You can't buy Obj 252 anyway so forget that.

Churchill 3 has the best xp multiplier

tier 8 gets extra 10%

tier 7 gets extra 20%

tier 6 gets extra 30%

tier 5 gets extra 40%

tier 4 gets extra 50%

tier 3 gets extra 60%

tier 2 gets extra 70%

Churchill 3 gets an extra built-in 25% on top of the 40%, on top of the 50% for prem tank

Churchill III is among the best russian HT crew trainers. The reason is that it comes with a higher XP modifier then other premium tanks.

If you need a tank for clan wars & such: Defender /Object 252, but it's not as good for training crews (smaller XP modifier) + but hard to get on EU, so best grind the IS-3 for that then, it's still a strong T8 tank.

IS-6 is a no-go, it's outdated for competition & there's better crew-training options.

In that vein, I can make a case for the IS-2 Berlin, as it comes with a Berlin HT crew (0 skill present) so you start with one skillset already fully trained. That the tank is a decent T7 HT just finishes it.

Because this post looks like troll for 2 reasons:

1) Obj 252u is not for sale and will never be again (as WG claims but you know...eh)

2) I think every avarage player here knows that there is a huge gap in performance between the 2, I mean..just compare the guns: 440 alpha vs 390 , 225 pen vs 175..like really ? do you need advice on this ? Oh yeah, get the worse one of course...

What about using the Churchill III as often suggest (in this thread, too). Is it really comparable as a crew trainer when contrasted against either the Defender /252U or IS-6?

C3 is a Tier V Defender.

No one bothers to shoot the turret and if you put the sponson in front of the the tank, all incoming fire will just bounce...

The only thing you need to be worried about are rerollers, T67s, high ROF SPGs and O-Is. You tend to lose optics a lot when hull/turret down.

Reload with crew skills and equipment is below 2 seconds which makes it a 2s-reload-140-shot autoloader. Gold ammo is dirt cheap and has ridiculously high pen that allows you to goldspam anything, win 1 X 1s and even make a profit. Always carry gold ammo (no less than 20rds and don't listen to the "gold noob" bla bla bla).

The only thing preventing the vehicle from being blatantly OP in my opinion, is the low speed, that is still higher than Mk. I. It's not a "W" and win tank but close enough.

Equipment:

Vents + Rammer + C. Optics

Crew skills:

BiA + Snapshot + S. Ride + Repairs + 6S + Prev. Maintenance

The Defender had a lot of hype and it still is OP, still ruins SH/CW but it's not that great in my opinion. Not in Pubs at least. With the amount of TDs in the queue.

Yes, the XP modifer it has is really noticeable & it's a multiplicative one. Most tanks have an base XP modifier of 1.0. Premium tanks get a bonus of 0.5 to their XP modifier. However, the Churchill III has a base XP modifier of around 1.3 & the Prem tank modifier is added on top; so it gets 1.8. So it gets a pretty big bonus for XP earning. Add in the crew XP bonus multiplier & you get alot of XP when playing the churchill III for your crew.

Add in that it has pref MM & i'ts prem shell can pen an O-I frontally and you got a decent tank to earn XP with.

Do note, according to WG, the Churchill III does not have an bonus XP modifier, but test by folks have confirmed that it earns XP at a silly rate & they estimated it to be between 1.2 & 1.4. Considering it's the only tank I can get 1K base XP on a loss (no courageous resistance), I'm inclined to agree with it

Considering you can only buy one of them atm, you're right.

But I don't even play my IS-6 that much anymore, even when training crews. I just toss them in the KV-220 and use that. Churchill III is better with regards to the post XP balance factor calculations that is always higher vs any other tank. But still... performance vs those two for me, it's easier to do consistently better in the 220. Even with the less XP bonuses.

I'm not very good, wn8 around 900, but the Churchill 3 is 9th in my top average XP earners at 712 per battle over 83 games. With Russian heavies it's only beaten by my KV-220 that has 763 average XP (4th) after 23 battles. So example numbers are low.
