Yeah, the World Cup is currently being played in Russia, the FInal is on july 15.

But it can be termed as Soccer, as that is derived from a shortening of Association, as in Association Football. Dates back to the late 19th century and originated in UK. Its use seems to frowned upon these days as many assume it is an Americanism as they use it to distinguish our fine game from their strange version that seems more akin to rugby than football.

I never really cared about that nonsense and I'll never understand the hype for a team that consists of different people from around the world instead of "your own" people, but this year I really hope that we get kicked out this weekend. I can't hear the moaning and whining anymore, be it at work or when we go out. That's like a freaking epidemic!
