Hi all, I am slowly starting to discover T6 on the German Tech Tree. I like lights and mediums so I would like to try them all and see from there which line I like most. How do you guys feel about the VK 28.01 after the nerf? And the tanks further up the tree? Are they any good and fun?

Luchs and leopard at tier IV and V are great fun. The vk28.01 used to be alot of fun with the derp 105mm gun, but since it's removal the vk28.01 is nothing special, the odd amusing moment from ramming another tier light tank but otherwise not very special or interesting.

At tier VII the autoloading Spahpanzer SPIC is arguably not as good as the USA and French autoloader lights. Similarly the tier VIII HWK 12 is nothing special. At tier IX is the spahpanzer RU251 which I used to quite enjoy at tier VIII but is less than thrilling at tier IX. I have yet to get the tier X.

Overall assessment = light tanks are weaker gernally at VI, VII, VIII, IX and X since they gained MM +/- 2. Maybe just a little too weak. The Germans in particular do not seem very good. I would suggest that the light lines from USSR, CN, and France are mainly better in each tier.

No not anymore. They ruined it big time. it was somethign special, stood out against the other lights but they made them all the same sadly enough.

Sold it two days after the changes and it was my fav LT.

The spic hasnt even got the auto loader anymore :( the only German auto loader gone, now it's just a mediocre light with nothing special going for it

Since it lost the 10.5 cm derp, I did not take it out for a ride... 59-16, MT-25, AMX 12t... all more fun.

seeing previous contributors, know that there are just bad drivers, not bad tanks :)

if you play light tanks to relax from every-day routine of just shooting tanks, they are OK. if you look for substitute for meds, then dont go for germans

VK is good tank, with right crew i have 29.8% camo and 450viewrange with optics

SPIC also not bad but nothing special, currently at HWK, 34.38% camo and 477m viewrange

these tanks, are ok if you play them with brains = like LT should be played. spotingin the start, giving your team the chance to soften up the targets, then taking pot-shots on isolated enemies, later clen up

if you really like LT gameplay, dont get disgusted by previous pro's

Removing the derp from the VK and binning the Aufklärungspanzer, are two of the worst decisions ever by WG!

Short answer is no. the VK 28.01 is trash, its a big box with a crappy gun. other T6 lights are better.

Its not trash though, it still has its place.

The VK is one of the strongest T6 LTs. Really fun and enjoyable to play. Go for it! :)

The vk28.01 was a fantastic fun tank. It was an exception: there was a reason to play this tank and it was not because it was overpowered. Remember, it could face tanks like t54, e75 and T-10.

Never touched it since 9.18 and not planning to.

Agreed - VK used to be a superb tank until the cut it's nuts off:(

VII and VIII are a bit of a paradox for LT's - on the one hand they are quite weak when facing same tier & above but also borderline OP when they are top tier.

Like Arthur said, it's still a pretty decent rammer - got mine set up like that with Spall Liner & Controlled Impact - so fun can be had.

Other than that it's just another Tier VI clone:(

I quite like it after 9.18, rather fun tank still, even if generic.

No, not anymore. Same goes for AMX ELC, previously great fun but after the "great" LT revision just a neutered generic pile of bolts.

I haven't played the germans but I've found all light tanks so far worth it. I don't think I've played a single tier5+ light tank that I didn't enjoy playing. Some might be better at some things than others but none of them has been useless.

I've played through the french light tanks, especially 13 90 was great fun. I like the Amx Elc Bis still even after the nerfs. (edit: Amx 13 105 is very fun tank but tier x is horrible and you get 80% of all tier x games and it's just hoooorrrrible)

I'm at T49 in the US tree, and it's buckets of fun! I'm not a great fan of moving Bulldog to tier8 but oh well.

I've got the LTTB and It's like racing car! It's just so fast to accelerate and climb hills, I love it! Was my go-to tank at frontlines.

I'm at the tier8 wz (-xxx) :D Well, hard to say anything about them, they're like the same tank from tier8 on, imo. Punchy gun and gets you places.

I've got only Luchs from the german tree (and the premium M41 90mm) and it's a keeper. At the moment I don't have plans on moving further on that line, although this applies to LTTB, Wz-errr and T49, too, since I'm done with the T-55a missions for LT and I'm focusing on other stuff atm.

But yeah, don't just go for any - Go for all of them!

The german light line is probably the weakest one - its in line with all other german lines. The german tree is so weak right now there is not even 1 t10 thats on the level of russian t10s...

Same, but I kept it. I'll never forget the Borsig tears it spilled.
