You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out that a lot of people have a lot of grievances, but how bad really is WG public opinion in the eyes of the forum playerbase? Is it really as disastrous as many believe? Let's find out! Vote!

Oh p.s. moderators, don't vote...

I like World of tanks, playing tanks in online battles against others is fun. I'm less a fan of WarGaming & don't really like the path they've been taking WoT the past year. Main reason for the WG dislike; lack of communication / bad communication regarding a wide array of subjects involving WoT, displaying a disconnection with the playerbase (on Europe servers at least).

They have their moments but, if we are being honest here, they have provided us with some great games - most at zero cost.

What's not to like?

It's either shooting tanks or mindless drivel that wife has on TV. So WoT gets my vote.

You should probably change the last option to "They're Horrible but I will continue to support them with my patronage":)

You should have had a neutral option, which i would have picked. But went for dislike as gameplay seems to be losing out to monetization atm.

I think it's deeply unfair to just simply declare that WG is good or bad. They do some things poorly, and many more things very well. Being humans with our brains like they are, we always tend to focus on the negative and take the good for granted.

GOOD:

  • WoT is a terrific game from a technical standpoint. Smooth, functional and stable. Kudos to WG coders!
  • The maps are fantastic and the tank models are unbelievably good. WG's 3D guys are absolutely top notch
  • Paying for people like Nicholan Moran to actually do historical and technical research, and contributing to museums is brilliant
  • The basic game idea is wonderful, and the game can be amazing fun under the right circumstances

BAD:

  • Game design is often steered by profitseeking, rather than providing the best gameplay experience. Even when improving gameplay would drasticly increase the playerbase leading to increased profits.
  • Generally poor and very erratic tank and class balance (suspected to be due to profitseeking)
  • Blatant russian bias. If the salty russian playerbase demands it, why not have a +10% boost on vital stats to all soviet vehicles on RU servers only? And leave the EU and NA evenly balanced between nations.
  • Insanely overpriced DLC. In other games such as racing games for instance, you get 3-4 cars for €10-15. In WoT a single tank can cost op to €40!?
  • Stupidly bad game design decisions like implementing the artillery class, or allowing players to face opponents many tiers above their own

I think the best thing for WG to do is to leave game design to the North American division, while leaving coding and art departments where they are.

I don't like them because I think they are incompetent.

Yes.  In the UK when I was a kid we got three channels and I remember being able to sit and watch TV all evening most evening.  Now I have hundreds of channels and it is almost all dreadful.  Even Horizon, the BBC science series has been dumbed down so far it is an hours of boring TV.

Apparently I should be paying to see channels and streaming services where all the good shows are today.

Would also go with the neutral position towards WG... there are pros and cons.

Juuuust.. for clarification.

If I pick the first vote option when can I expect to see my brand new shiny ... uhm... tank whose name shall not be spoken in my garage?

... and if I pick the last option.. will there *gulp* be like consequences of a different nature?

Sooo... all that waiting and cheering for a dumb and superficial poll like that? I'm disappointed.

It was to be expected, but... still.

I too would have liked a neutral option. I know very little about WG themselves, and other than the fact that they produce a game I enjoy playing, I'm not going to lose any sleep over not knowing much about them.

I see a lot of rage about them in this forum, but most of that rage seems to be from people who oppose change or who dont get everything their own way.

So OP, either put a neutral option or I will vote in WG's favour.

This.

Why would I like or dislike Wargaming? They're not even a person, they're a company. I can dislike their decisions, I can dislike their products, but the company as a whole? Disliking Wargaming would include disliking the people who clean their office.

Granted that's a bit pedantic, but that aside, "Wargaming" has never done anything to me. They've made a product that I play on and off. They do their best to make money from it, which is something I'd expect. If they make enough bad decisions that their product is no longer enjoyable I'll quit permanently but that's because I'll dislike spending time on the product, not because I dislike the company.

Well.. for two reasons. I had and still have my reservations about the gun performance. Also, that was the time of the 'Clown camos'.. what WG did was they released the Defender AND the 252U TANK WHOSE NAME SHALL NOT BE SPOKEN  with a regular camo, whereas they had only offered the AMX and Patriot with Clown camo versions. So,... I was boycotting this type of purchases until they would release non-clown camo versions of the Patriot and the AMX.

Which they did, but of course what I didn't imagine is that they would later opt to sell it again only on every other effing server except the EU....
