"Our friends at WoT Express decided to gather together a few real tanks (not paper or prototypes) who would be fitting to add as premiums shooting HE as their standard ammo."

Т88 HMC (tier VI, TD, USA)

xNQMzT4UoLU.jpg

t88.jpg

This beefed up M8 Scott would be very similar to the M18 Hellcat. Besides being very fast and having good camo, it would now have a howitzer to do damage even without penetrating hits.

Object 234 (tier VI, HT, USSR)

object.jpg

Very simple – take an IS-1 hull, put on a KV-1 turret, and install an U-11 howitzer.

M45 (tier VII, MT, USA)

GpnE5cgHXC8.jpg

A vehicle which is the embodiment of a medium tank – mobile and decently armored, just with a big gun. If nobody ever plated an M26 with the howitzer, this is the perfect occasion, just a tier lower.

M10 (tier VI, TD, China)

ch.jpg

A Chinese version of the M10, just with an enormous howitzer. Many players like the M10, so this iteration would most likely be well received.

StuIG 33B (tier VII, TD, Germany)

stug.jpg

Small, agile, invisible, and shooting HE. This modification of the traditional StuG would probably be a lot of fun for people who like the usual StuG.

Sturmpanzer IV (tier VII, TD, Germany)

niemiec.jpg

A lot of players are waiting for this tank, and not necessarily as a premium tank. Will we ever see a line of Sturmpanzern? That we don’t know, but the KV-2 ® was a precedent.

Personally I think the occasional derping is fun (M4, Jumbo, KV2), but the mid tiers already have a number of derp(options) that potentially adding premiums which fire HE as standard is a bit too much in my opinion. But what are your thoughts?

Hi!

I too am looking for some tier-6 mobile turreted derp platform. Unfortunately I'm stuck with ~400 damage derps guns there, which vs. tier-8 are woefully under-powered. IMO a 600-700 dmg derp gun here would be appropriate, as a bridge between 400-dmg and 900-dmg guns.

Yes, game isn't frustrating enough. Let's add some more one-way-tickets to garage to mid tiers!

To be fair, most if those veicles would be quite underpowered... 105/122mm howitzers may be good at tier 5, starts to be meh at tier 6 and are definitly bad at tier 7. So I have no problem introducing those veicles.

The only one that may actually be competitive is the sturmpanzer4 because it had a 15cm howitzer IIRC...

I would a totally welcome it if they removed derps on tanks that never had it.

I would be okay with the Sturm, but nothing else.

Derp tanks are next to arty and autoloaders in terrible tank design. they can 1 shot nuke someone or simply punish someone for using there armor correctly.

Brummbär maybe as a tier 6-7 TD, but no more than that. It has no turret, terrible shell velocity and unlike the SU-152, didn't have AP and HEAT was significantly weaker (while the SU-152 actually never had HEAT, the ISU-152 with the same gun did), so it most certainly would be quite bad, nothing more than a meme machine.

Other than that, as much fun as a tier 8 derp premium would be (huge credit making potential - O-Ho is much more profitable than other tier 8 HTs because of the derp), I don't think that derp premiums are a good idea at all, because it's a broken concept that could get reworked as whole. I guess that is exactly why we dont have HE based premium higher than tier 3 (and the only one we have is literal clone of the KV-2 and overly expensive, too), and I guess for the same reason we don't have tier 8 premium arty, either.

Which is their exact point and why we have those in the game. "Armour" isn't meant to be impenetrable. Thy concept of it, doesn't even hold nor it should.

If someone angles their armour to make my shells inneffective, HE and SPGs can still cripple it This is even one of the tooltips:

"A vehicle that can't be destroyed with AP shells can still be damaged with HE shells". Not sure what needs to be explained here as the latter is quite logical.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, that's another story which hardly has a point. The mechanics are there to be explored in any player's favour.

THIS

I yearn for the StuH 42. It's basically a Stug IV with the 105mm howitzer and better armor.

Actually, why split it? Just add the 105mm to the Stug IV.

"you can still damage it with HE...by russian 122mm guns only tho coz anything below 90mm is worthless" you mean. only some tanks get guns that can even HE something for worthwhile damage.

Why they start tossing this idea around long after they took away the derp from VK2801....... I want the derp VK back!
