Well just logged into world of tanks and was presented with a survey about the global campaign, and all I can say is 'about damn time', Wargaming should have been collecting this kind of data a long time ago and using it to improve both the game and it's interaction with it's player base.

Hopefully they will use this tool more in the future to try and gather a clear picture from us players and our opinions.

They have done random surveys in game for years, it's nothing new.

The last I saw was like 9 months ago over maps, they should really do these surveys more often, and give you some boosters for participating. They can get some really useful info with them I suspect. Then they only need to do something with the info...

That's because they do not need to survey all of us, it's usually sufficient with a random sample. I've done two such surveys in my time here, the last one was about new graphics, MM and some other things.

Why do they not need to survey all of us? As you continually point out the forum is only 3% ish of user base so there feedback is limited, they desperately need to get as close to 100% feedback imo.

Well if it's s survey about the CW campaign there's little point in sending it to people who aren't in clans.

It's common for marketing surveys to be targeted though.  If you want to find out about a particular section of your customer base.  Maybe they will target F2P players with one set of questions and wallet warriors with another.

After a long period of inactivity I came back and was greeted with a survey about my opinion on the current state of WoT. There were like 50 different questions, ranging from personal impressions of balance up to the possibility of recommending the game to others on a scale of 1-10, how much fun the game would generate and what exactly bothers me the most.

Spoiler

Pretty sure it is just a Placebo.

A few days ago I got a survey about being in a clan.

Why did you join a clan ?

How did you choose your clan ?

What is important to you ?

Is this feature, that aspect, some other statistic important ?

In wasn't specifically about the GM campaign.

Someone else mentioned the same survey (that I got) in this post http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/673817-perfecting-preferential-premiums/page__st__3840__pid__15917010#entry15917010

In answer to his "Not sure why" question, when asking about clan membership it's valuable to gather the opinions of people who haven't joined a clan to find out why not.

This isn't the first survey I've ever completed.

The 3% that are on the forums are self selecting, when they send out surveys in the game to random people they get a statistically much more representative sample. It's the same method they use before elections by polling random people instead of looking at what people write on facebook, for example.

Yes I understand that, your stating an obvious fact. A 100% view of the data is better than selective or representative though that is the point I am getting across. They should be asking very basic questions like "Do you like the new modified maps", "Do you like the recent changes to the RU higher tiers", " Do you plan on spending any money in wot in the near future"... etc etc... basic questions so they can realign if needed. I think they would benefit a lot from a whole picture.

Not really, you start getting diminishing returns after a point a long way from 100%.

They don't though, I had one the other night and it was all to do with clan wars or something, nothing at all about what we think should be done to improve the game.

That said though why would they go to the trouble of improving a game, when they make a t of money from people who moan yet still play?

Well maybe. But there is no cost involved on extra surveys, and depending on how they are designed, can be analysed automatically.

I'm thinking of Yes/No/Maybe or 1-5 scale type of questions which incidentally is what they already use.
