What a total piece of garbage the T-34 Shielded is as a prize, for the following reason,  the in game current T-34 has Hull Armour of 45/45/40 and Turret Armour of 52/52/45 so it would be natural to assumed the shielded version would be enhanced from these figures,,,,But No the shield comes with Hull Armour of 45/40/40 and Turret Armour of 45/45/45, how is this in anyway a shielded T-34

What a piece of Total Garbage as well as IMO another typical worthless con,

Don't get me wrong yes it is nice to win a tank as a prize no issues with that but to have one like the one you had or have as the grinded version and call it shielded then surely it should have marginally better armour if nothing else OK up the armour lower the speed as a compensator (Leave the Gun alone or it will be a totally worthless prize only fit for selling.

But you do have issues with it. you are complaining about a FREE tank that is super easy to obtain. it doesent matter how bad it is, its literally free for playing the game a bit daily.

You make it sound like someones forcing you play play the game to get a bad tank. dam whiners.

Can't get the T-34-85M Marathon out of your mind, eh? It's one hell of a tank gotten for free. But this one is a Tier V so it shouldn't really matter lol.

Armour is better on T-34 Shielded. Base hull armour is exactly the same on both tanks but stats list lower side armour for T-34 which is flat 45 mm and upper side armour (that angled part) for T-34 Shielded which is 40 mm. On top of that, additional armour is not listed in stats at all. It's spaced 16 mm additional armour so you actually get 61 mm of armour on lower side hull and 56 mm on upper angled part. Same goes for the turret (61 mm).

Do I have to mention what it means for sidescraping and protection against 105 mm derps and HEAT which are very common on tier 4 and 5 tanks?

Top-of-the-line players showcased the 34S on their streams already; in practice there is very little difference in performance, basically it was noted that talking about their stats is nice but with the difference being this little (even though one has spaced armor) RNG makes for a bigger impact on the outcome than those numbers, they even talked about very situational scenarios for both vehicles and all that jazz, but the bottom line was something like -  if you do good in one you'll do good in the other and if you do bad in one you'll do bad in the other. It is a premium though and just to add something from myself, when it comes to personal taste the shielded one looks way cooler in my personal opinion.

Do think the event could have been more... meh I'll won't go off-topic.

so far it has been log on, play a few games (in some cases just one game) and get the token... do that 30 days out of 50 and get loads of freebies including a Tonk.

You can't really whine about free stuff

People still care about the nominal armor values WG shows in the game?

Thought everybody knew by now that those are generally useless.

In the end it's just a T5 med one way or the other.

Because the stock T-34 has a turret with 45/45/45 and that's the one the shielded uses,  so it IS a shielded version of the base T-34.

Shielded != extra thick armour, it has spaced armour (extra protection from HEAT and HE).

Against AP and APCR too since shells will loose penetration after hitting spaced armour based on its effective thickness (so against completely flat parts - 16 mm, more if you are angled).

This means that AP from Hetzer has barely any chance of penetrating completely flat side of T-34 Shielded while it's almost guaranteed penetration against standard T-34.

It seems like it's not a lot but it makes huge difference when you are top tier. Properly angled, T-34 Shielded can be almost immune to most tier 4 guns.

Did Search_warrant just write something... positive? :B

Anywho. I think those shields are there just to troll all those ikv103's who fire HEAT.

Because the T-34 Ekranami is a Model 1942 T-34 with added spaced armour.

Or in other words, with the stock turret.

The hexagonal elite turret only came with the Model 1943 of the T-34.
