As I sit here contemplating why, on this gorgeous day, I'm not outside enjoying the glorious British summer it occurs to me that there are alternatives to spending the day smiting the ignorant in my M53/M55.

Personally, I love fishing:)

Properly administered it can provide a distraction from the usual humdrum that permeates the forum - sometimes you catch a biggun with little, or no effort, but after a while, this can become a little boring.

Other times you are constantly pestered by the small fry, especially at this time of year.

Anyways, I digress, are there others amongst us who would be better off outside today?

I'm currently taking a brake from renovating my balcony - perfect weather for that :)

I assume that sir is testing the structural integrity of the balcony today, with a comfy chair and a beverage or ten?

I'm awaiting the telephone call of doom from the garage after dropping the car off this morning as, "I'm not sitting in that car for four hours without air conditioning" when we embark on a short camping holiday next week that was planned by the person who's not sitting in that car, etc. Of course, she's remembered that she's off out meeting a friend for lunch so I've also lost my lift to collect the car later should it be finished today.

In the meantime I'm amusing myself by trying to find a way to prevent Windows 10 from recognising that my headphones have been plugged into the front panel of the PC as I don't want to unplug them when I use the speakers. All the registry hacks I can find are either out of date or don't work and I'd prefer not to install Realtek again because that's the easy way out.

When the weather is nice, fishing is just about the best thing you can do. Bring a friend or two and a cooler of beer and it will be great even if no fish is caught.

I'm about to head to the driving range and continue trying to fix a flaw in my golf swing. Not so much fun now, but when the problem is fixed it will be quite rewarding. Enjoy the day, y'all!

Been there, done that - currently it's more about fixing the glazed douglas fir boards in the frame of the railings. ;)

I've tried fishing. It bored the crap out of me.

Sorry.

Even though we have a river at the bottom of the garden, no fishing, just kayaking.

I have a huge list of things to do today, both outside and inside, but right now I'm hiding a bit from work. Instead, I'm preparing the evening. We might hang out here with some nice marinated steaks, some drinks and do some archery.

I recently got a big old round bale as a present ("Last year you asked me if I had an old bale for you. This year I have one, I simply dumped it on your front yard. You still have that small tractor with the front loader, right?") and I somehow managed to roll it into the back garden and onto its wooden rack this morning. Now my niece is painting a nice target cloth for it and if I'm done with all the other stuff I might screw on the little aluminium roof this evening.

I'm quite happy with how everything turned out this year. The various berry bushes right next to the sitting area finally fruited this year, so we even have the dessert ready.

I see what you did there... after doing some googleing.

A friend of mine aslo has his rod ready every weekend. Small ponds, big ponds, beaches - he doesn't care.

I think the key to enjoying fishing is realising it’s just an excuse to sit outside with a few beers and some mates. The enjoyment factor seems to be almost completely unaffected even if you don’t take a fishing rod.

Installing vents is a really good idea, must remember this when I go camping with my Tiger 1. :great:

Certainly no WoT for me today. I’ve done the food shopping for the weekend, spent a bit of time outside making a start of doing my Tamiya Cromwell, which I’m intending to do as a WoT Cromwell B, and I’m now sitting down in the pub having a few beers and reading the forum/newspaper. The plan for tonight, a nice roast chicken with some veg and potatoes.

Bought furniture for my balcony. Now, wife is lying on the sunbed, and we are having some nice Munich beer. Later BBQ with all the neighbours at our new place here.
