Hiya tankers!

I regularly see posts by people wondering which premium is a good credit maker, is considered beginner / noob-friendly, trains a crew well, great for personal missions, or is considered "the best" (i.e. P2W) etc etc. So, following up from my previous posts regarding which non premium tanks per tier and class were considered must-haves (see link), I figured I would start another poll, but this time regarding nice-to-have(N2H)* premium tanks. Since not all the classes are represented in all the tiers, I figured I would just do it by tank class, starting with the Light Tanks.

Btw: If you have any suggestions to improve the poll, including if and how I am going to showcase the final results, let me know!

Also, please highlight why you picked those tanks as N2H. Maybe one is iconic? Maybe another is just pure fun no matter the MM and / or outcome? Maybe that one is perfect for crew training due to (hidden) modifiers, and another prints credits, etc etc. Help a noob the players understand why you made whatever choice you made for premium tanks to be labelled N2H.

Note: I tried to exclude those premiums that are not available to the general public either once a year, through vote for your dream tank specials, or the regular premium store, but I could have missed one so please let me know when I forgot to include or exclude something!

Thanks for voting!

~Dutch

* I say nice-to-have in stead of must-have like I did with the regular tank tree polls, because those you can acquire as a f2p player, and I am not going to encourage / endorse people spending actual money due to perceived peer pressure. Whether you want to & will spend money on this game is entirely up to you.

Note: Maybe too much to hope for, but please refrain from negatively commenting on each other's highlighted tank. This is not intended to be a thread to discuss the pen & alpha of tank A vs tank B and thus why you think tank B is better etc, and definately not a rage-topic about 3-5-7 MM or PMM. If you disagree with someone, just close the thread and read something else. GL & HF!

Tetrach - early premium tank, happy memories.

T-127 - again I got this way back when, and it was amusing.

Type 64 - Tier VI monster for those who know what to do with it.

Type 62 - tier VII almost the same as the stock tech tree equivalent, but makes decent silver.

Chinese light tanks used to be useful in tier VIII SH/CW, but the tier X is not as good as the RASHA one, so less important to have Chinese crew trainers.

AMX 13 57 - used to be truly awful when it had +3 mm, but the change to +2mm made it much more effective in every battle. At least the tech tree tier X is second best to the RASHA one.

leKpz M41 90GF - woof! The Blackdog, substandard tier VIII medium, above par tier VIII light, tells you all you need to know about the nerfbat the tech tree light tanks took when the tier X light tanks were introduced. Makes good silver, trains a crew for a pretty useless line.

There are 26 tanks in your light tank list, I own all the tier VIIIs and I am missing the BT-SV.

The Chinese - both the t64 and type62 are good crew trainers and the type 64 is a monster in its tier , good for skirmish too - t8 Chinese is good in cw also

1357f - just so much fun , the unique playstyle is worth it , the elc because this teaches you how to spot in a tank with good camo but slow acceleration- the French lt line is like that and is great fun so two premium trainers is a good thing for those crews

Blackdog- for cw only , t8 is no place for crew training in a lt , just don’t

Type 64 and the GF lights went from decent-good to best in class with the big mm change, so those are nice to have.

T92 is the only proper USA trainer, and it doesn't suck, so that one is nice to have.

ELC EVEN 90 is a rolling meme and master of bush. So yeah.

For the occasional low tier fun I added BT-7 Art. to the vote. Because speedy derp.

Blackdog, because it is always good to be top dog.

Valentine II, just because it is good for those missions where you need to be top x in either damage or exp, it always delivers in that regard.

Don't care about lower tiers but all the premium lights above tier 6 are fun to play IMO.

BT-7A, because is a joy to play. Carried some tier 3 game with more than 1k damage in that beauty.

Then I selected Type64, AMX1357, ELC EVEN 90 and black dog, cause those kept the old LT VR, and would surely be on my wish list if I will ever start to support WG. ;)

In general, skill-wise, lights is a very demanding and crew dependent class, probably the class with the highest skill ceiling.

Now, as for what tanks are the best per tier.

Type 64 is a monster sealcluber, with a good crew,

AMX 1357 is pretty strong now, after the special mm removement from lights,

The German Bulldog is probably the best tier 8 premium light, because of the good combination

of gun, mobility, view range,

but for a pure scout tank, the ELC EVEN with a camo crew can get 40%+ camo, so it is the

stealthiest LT at the tier, but everithing else (gun, mobility) are not really good.

ALmost all of them are nice to have - so I'll just put the reasons here why I didn't select several tanks:

Tier 2 pref lights (no tier 3 matches) are subpar as they cannot pen the majority of tier 2 tanks if they even slightly angle.

Most other tier 2 prems are just nothing special or different from the tech tree tanks. (main exception: tetrach)

BT-7A is a lot of fun, play it quite a bit on my secondary. Tetrarch is cool.

As for the rest:

Type62, AMX 13 57, T92 and Blackdog.

All others are mediocre to crap.

Did you mean Type 64? I agree the 62 is a fun tank to play, but the type 64 is just extremely good at its tier, can't see how that can be left out of any list

The thing about premium lights... is the tier limits. Look how few there are above tier 6. Thus why I never sell any of the gift tanks, regardless of how bad they are. Training crew for the tier 9 Russian light actually went fast, when you have 7 premiums for it. Tho all tier 2 to 4.  So with regards to noob friendly, good credit makes etc. There are not many to pick from tbh.

Beginner friendly: T-127 it's not a bad starter premium with a bit more view range and dpm them most tier 3 prems. The gun is not that bad that you need press 2 often, and the armor is 40mm at a 55 degree angle. So you get over 60mm of effective armor. So it's one that forgives mistakes. You could not say the same about the Valentine II with +0 MM. As it's the same gun one tier up with AMX 40 etc and 51 pen.

Trains crew well: The issue with most gift tanks is that crew setup vs mid to high tiers differs greatly on most of them. So not many there. The high tier premiums have the same crew setup as the normal high tiers. Same with the Chinese lights. Tho the Type 64 has a radio operator, that only the low tier Chinese have. So for most there, it might wreck the high tier BIA etc early on. For Luchs and Leopard drivers the T-15 is perfect, but lacks the gunner spots for higher tiers.

Great for income: Tbh I would put the The Type 64 there too. Not a bad pick for novice accounts, as it's cheap to run. And thus profit on a good assist round is great for a tier 6. Same with the tier 8 scouts. I've had 70K profit runs non premium on my ELC even 90. As repair is cheap, ammo is not something you spam, and damage is not your main income to waste to many shells on it.

Great for Personal missions: Again, depends on the reward tank. Even my Valentine II did the cap mission with ease for the Stug due to the armor. But as a good all rounder… Chinese lights. As they are pre LT change in terms of view range and dpm etc. Thus can get the gun to do the work if the missions needs it.

Pure fun no matter what MM: T2 LT, this was the only tier II with +2 MM at one point. And still I had fun in it, as it's still a great bully.

Troll: Tetrach… tier II with a tier VI gun with 121 gold pen. It's one of few tier II's that laughs when it sees a Pz II J. And it has a few of those killed at med to long range even.

Sad but true - still unhappy about the 59-16s autoloader getting removed - it made it stand out (with its tier 4 pen ^^) - similar for tier 6 VK-light and ELC...
