Hello there, can anyone help me how to improve game play with turret-less TD? Mainly the Russian line? They have no armor they are slow and the D4S gun on the ISU152 is giving me head ache. I tried to PM some of the better players but as it seems they  are ignoring me :). I am grateful for any input. At the moment I am struggling at 45% WR with the ISU which is abysmally bad :(.

Isu keeps a fair distance and plays smart.

Isu uses hard cover cuz it has no armor.

Change direction at the SU-100 and go up the other line of TD's, they are much, much better.

The simple answer is: Don't.

The majority of casemate TDs have no place in the current meta.

TD's are defensive weapons, not offensive, your a second line support vehicle, you need the stand off to mitigate the limited traverse so you use stealth and accuracy to support the guys at the front.

You will not score as high as your brawlers but it's you that has to prevent them being flanked or sniped so you have a secondary rolwe that is very position dependant.

If your a plonker you will rush forward, get tracked and die fast!

Keep distance (trying to facehug doesn't really work without a turret),

always make sure you have some hard cover, especially if your reload time is long,

always make sure you have support (people tend to yolo TDs more often than not),

keep your gun active as much as possible.

Snipe. The gun is a bit potato so you'll miss a lot but when you do hit someone then they're going to know about it and you don't need to land many shots to get a good result.

positional td's are not playable the way they need to be played on randoms. You go to have to make circus moves to play it or stay on the flank with less people, this way the people with tactics of counter strike not go to interference.

Only some turretles td's are playable on the tic-tac-toe gameplay of randoms ( jag panzer e-100 ) ( strv tier x )

Play it at the front as support TD. You can pen litteraly any tank in game (even if now it may require gold). Let the enemy fire then peak and slap them in the face for 750HP, then reverse and let you armoured friends do their job.

Also remember that you have a great fear factor, especially when enemy are down on HP. Use it whisely to force them in a passive gameplay.

I supose I could try give advice here, maybe I'm considered a decent TD player :D.

anyway, the ISU, while not as powerful as it used to be(once upon a time it had 286, I.e. centre mass and hope it hits) now, you kinda have to aim, but can still get away with shots at the centre.

this tank is an either ambush TD(remain hidden, and strike when unaware), second-third line heavy support TD, or in some cases(that I love doing in my 704 some times) go all in and poke at unaware targets.

but yeah, casemates are not as good as they are sadly, so a good line with turrets is the E4, with all the tanks being good and interesting(the tier VII is basically a medium tank)

Now post your next 10 battles in it.

Since that is almost 5x your average damage i'd say you got massively lucky.

I played it badly before, re-bought it when I knew what I was doing. Churchill Gunk Carrier is a tricky one tho.

The point is, turretless TDs are fine. I enjoy my Cda and many people enjoy the T110E3.

Notice the word "majority" in my original post.

Also note something you said "I enjoy MY CDA"

Enjoying something and it actually being useful are two very different things.

I love the KV-2, but it cant carry a game.

Still play a couple of turret-less TD's quite regularly and I still find some of them quite viable, however there are many that don't really work in the current meta (mainly the paper ones and the tier 8 ones due to current MM). Sure not having a turret is a major downside, but that generally is compensated with better pen and/or gun handling and/or alpha which at times is more important. I generally play my TD's as second-line support tanks, works quite nice, you just have to be a bit aware of what's going on around you to grasp when it's possible to act and when it's not, keeping an eye on when enemies shoot or when they relocate etc is very important. The biggest mistake you can make in a TD in my opinion is being to far from the action, wanking in a bush at the redline just means you either don't get to do a single thing since your allies won the match without you, or you're just a late game snack for your enemies after they've crushed your allies. An other important thing is to not just utilize the "standard" TD spots, not only will people avoid being exposed to those locations, they will at times blind fire them, take Prokhorovka as an example, 99% of all TD players drive into the forest and sit there spamming "spot" in chat, I instead go to D7 (from northern spawn) and put shoot after shoot into the stuff that gets spotted on the hill, if we lose it I just retreat, if we win I follow along, all while my allied TD's still sit in the forest doing pretty much nothing.

Here is a match I played in the JPz IV a couple of days ago: http://wotreplays.eu...t-jagdpanzer_iv

Ain't a special match or anything, it's just me playing how I normally play, semi-aggressive and most of the time with R double tapped in full pursuit of stuff most TD players hide in a bush waiting for instead.

Did not expect an Hellcat there in the end, but I felt I had to do something since the Jackson was on almost no HP and the IS, well he was special...
