Hello there,

I only play WOT and I want ther best possible experience. My current screen is just  a 27 inch HD gaming monitor - 1920X1080 but @ 144Hz. Having upgraded the GPU from gtx 980 classy to gtx 1080 I am looking at options to upgrade the monitor to make the game look even better.

My dilemma is whether I should go 1440 (also called 2K) with fast refresh and possibly G-sync or take the plunge and go 4K @ 60Hz. Another thing is that the 4K 60Hz seems to be cheaper. Both screens are going to be in the 27-32 inch territory. My current gameplay is very smooth, I get over 120 FPS all maxed out minus grass in sniper mode. But I am not sure the difference between 60 FPS and 120 FPS is that relevant in WOT, where the gameplay is not superfast.

And here is my question: is 4K worth it? Moreover, will my gtx 1080 G1 Gaming give me steady 60 FPS?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Below are main specs of my rig, just in case

I7 4770K @ 4,4GHz

Asus Z 97 Maximus Hero

8Gb DDR3 @ 2133

SSD over sata3

Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming

If it is one high end ASUS monitors you already have I'd not switch.

You'd have to turn down the graphics a bit at max settings.

I'd reccomend 3440x1440 100Hz if you're into that sort of thing - best experience out there and I've tried it all except 4K 60Hz+.

Thanks for the reply. My current screen is BenQ XL2720Z 27 inch 144Hz Gaming Monitor. It is a good screen but I am ready to step up. Just not sure between 2K and 4K. Never played on a wide panel, like the one you are suggesting. Gotta go to a shop somewhere, see what they are like life.

i love my current 2560x1440p 32" screen for WoT, also capable of 2880x1620p both quite stable at 60fps synced  (can OC to 75Hz but 144Hz is not needed ... would not reach further than 80fps in my case :D  )

well for less than 299€ i will not complain. (technically a budget one ... tho i never seen a budget with more metal than plastic and a 5ms IPS screen )

tho my GPU would probably not handle 4K (nor a single 1080 also ...) 4k is only a freaking gimmick for the actual GPU generation ... 1440p is the sweetspot and 1620p is way enough in term of resolution (technically a 3K )

btw ... 2560x1440 = 2.5K,  2K is 1920x1080, hence 3K =2880x1620
