Chimera gets nerfed further:

- Reload time: 14.48 -> 15,82secs (ST version I: 13,32secs)

- DPM nerf: 1823 -> 1668 (ST version I: 2190)

- Accuracy: 0,33 -> 0,36

- Pen & Alpha stay the same from last nerfs; still 50-100 less from ST version I.

- Didnt look at the mobility stats

Is it me or is that RoF / DPM nerf overkill...?

Silver lining:

"Please remember that the characteristics below might change."

Looks like they are finally starting to properly balance premium tanks again rather than maken more and more "overpowered/superior/better then free" machines.

You get 440 alpha on this gun, almost *DOUBLE* what most mediums get at tier 8.

Alpha is still king in WoT as it always has been.

This is why: https://thearmoredpa...m-balance-dept/

Defender, chrysler, t26e5... were all released when he was in charge.

WG logic at it's finest.

There are already 3 tier VIII british premium/special MTs and 0 HTs. Chimera was:

Block Quote

 The postwar design of a heavy British tank, capable of competing equally with the Soviet IS-3 tank

 the stats fits more HT than MT, but WG still makes it MT because reasons :facepalm:

DPM and accuracy nerfs are fine (though the med with 440 alpha having less DPM than the heavies with 440 alpha makes no sense).

It's the horrible soft stats on the gun that are the issues. IIRC this thing had worse dispersion values than a Cromwell which means it will take about 3-4s to aim in reality, whilst the likes of the IS3 get amazing soft stats.

How good this tank will be I think will depend if that armour is useful, if it is then this might be some sort of heavium type tank, but if it;s not that useful then you've just got a horrible to play tank.

Looks like both are being touted as potential PM reward tanks, so that is probably why it is crap, cos it'll be free.

i doubt about this...since this tank is probably a reward one not a premium...so thats why they "balance it properly"

If you check their ultimate plans you can see that new tier 7 american premium will be just better than standard counterparts AGAIN. Why? Because its a premium not a reward...:facepalm:

and this 440 alpha is with HE...

That Pershing on tier 7 is certainly not better than the T20, it's dead slow for one thing. The T20 (despite that I hate the thing) is far more versatile then the Eagle.

Unless this Chimere has 3 types of HE shells it looks like the AP ammo has 440 as well:

Alpha Damage: 440 / 440 / 530

Off topic:

I begg to differ. On paper, on anything but it's bad mobility, it looks better than the T20.

The Eagle has proper DPM, better dispersion softstats and armor advantage over the T20.

Only thing it really lacks is mobility. But to say that that single disadvantage makes up for the "powercreep" vs the T20...I really don't know. Comparison: https://tanks.gg/compare/t20?t=eagle-7

As for going back on topic, I share Cobra's view that the Chimera has been made into a more balanced premium that some previous premiums that have been released. Which is a good thing TBH, though a little too late as well.

It's not overkill. Many t8 meds have sub 2000dpm, many 1700-1900. This has 2x the alpha so it should have less dpm.

A good thing done for the wrong reasons is still a good thing though.

Imagine a proper medium blatting you in the face for the same damage as the Defender and also having good gun handling to do it. Much joy will be had in tier 8 yet again if this happens.

Well, the bad mobility will also mean it will struggle on slopes for instance taking more time to get out of shot or in shot for that matter.

Granted, when I look at the Eagle and then at my T23E3 I see no reason why the T23E3 needs such atrocious dispersion values on hull movement but oh well.....

At least the Eagle won't be impervious to most fire, be as fast as mediums and have a very powerful gun like the Defender which is something I applaud.

So? That is why it has 145 penetration instead of 175.

Doesn't mean the gun handling needs to be garbage as well on top of that.....

Cobra 6

It has more pen and better gun handling than a Comet, the Comet sees tier 9, the T23E3 does not.  150 pen it also pretty standard for a tier 7 med.

The only tier 7 med that has good dispersions is the Panther/M10, the T23E3 is amongst the better ones.

If anything it needs more hp/ton so it can use it's mobility better, it's really sluggish.

It needed a nerf, especially as it is likely to be a reward tank.

Also as you correctly posted these are Super Test stats and subject to change.

As others have mentioned now that Murazor has been removed from the balancing department, WG have reverted to SerB's old rule that premium tanks can be better than the tech tree stock equivalent, but should not be noticeably better than the elite version of the tech tree equivalent.

Admittedly the RAAC Centurion 5/1 looks marginally better than the elite all modules researched Centurion mk.1, but that is such a medicore tech tree tier VIII medium that the RAAC being marginally better hardly makes either super sparkling in tier VIII.

Chimera looks like it is getting closer to where it should be.

T23 Eagle will probably alter on ST II.

It's been like that for a while though, it changed since the Fochgate debacle.

Premiums we have had recently are the likes of Somua, Mauerbrecker, STG Guard, Progetto, Lorraine 40t, ELC Even 90, T92, Cent RAAC, Loza's Sherman, Thunderbolt etc.

None of those is Defender like, some like the RAAC, Progetto, Sherman Firefly might be marginally better than the tech tree version but a still long way from OP or powercreep.

I think/hope the sign of Murazor going was the 277 and K-91, new Russian tier 10 vehicles that are balanced and not OP, especially the 277 which is a Soviet heavy and contrasts a lot to the 430U and 268v4 which I think were the last new tier 10s released under Murazor.
