After about 5k battles i finally made it to IS-7 (surprising tank, isn't it?) and im really enjoying it so far. Now the question is, which tech tree would people recommend for me? Im still new and learning the ropes but i'd like to know which tech tree is still easy enough, but a bit more challenging than the soviet one. I started grinding the soviet heavy line since most people recommend it for noobs and also because i have a thing for Russian/Soviet tanks in general, but now i'd like to know what would be the best next step. Preferably medium or heavy line from other countries branches. Thank you in advance for anyone who takes time to answer a bit stupid question..

the US E5 line would be a good start. Just remeber once you get to the t29 it is all about the turret, and dont skip grinding the 105 gun on it, you will not like grinding it on the T32, trust me.

What keeps you from simply trying a few new lines on your own and then deciding yourself?

Well Steve, since you have the IS-7 the obvious choice is to go for the E100

If in doubt use every test server to test drive all the possibles.

If you have not been on one before, after installing the test you have temporary access to 20,000 gold and 100,000,000 xp and credits.

In the current test all the tanks are already unlocked so you can just buy what you like.

I would suggest not buying anything much below tier 8 but you can certainly get into battles with higher tiers and just see if you like the feel of the tank.

Gold lets you test premium tanks buy 100% crews etc.

Nothing you do affects your standard game as the test is installed into a different folder.

Worth considering anyway.

Probably the best advice OP...

Try for yourself instead of asking others as you'll find the tank line that suits you.

Don't just consider the top tier, look at the tanks on the way up too. My only two T10s are the US T57 and more recently Bat Chat, that's because I felt the autoloader vibe. I went US T57 first as the T71 DA at T7 is awesome and worth keeping. T54E1 isn't bad either but I'll likely sell it as I'll need the crew if I grind Patton one day.

My next and maybe final T10 is the Object 140 as I'll get to keep the T54-Lwt on the way up.

I must take issue with the very idea of semi-noob. Some of us have worked damned hard to gain status of noob, there is no halfway house sir, you're a noob, or you aint!

I'm a noob I'm a noob but my mother wont admit it!  :bajan:;):B

Test servers are worth getting into, the negative aspects are few.

You do have to download install and update another version of the game so need the hard drive space.

Once you have done that however you can just update it each new patch.

The other negative is that so few players try out low tier tanks gameplay is pretty much tier 7+

Unless of course a new tank line comes out then you can test low tiers.

You will be able to do that when the Polish line arrives.

You get tests every few months and they usually last around a week or so with sometimes a reset part way through.

Current one is to test changes to the in game shop.

Good way to try out premium tanks though of course its only the older ones actually in the game store.

There is another type or test server you can apply to join and thats called the sandbox it does not run that often but its for testing out possible game changes that are completely new and untried.

Been some time since they ran one but you do get to provide input at an early stage in the development of new ideas.

Why not go on other Russian heavy line since you would have most of the modules researched already.

try obj 277 line because is borderline OP or the rear turreted tanks, or why not even the IS-4 line but stop at t9 ST-I for your own good.

advice from a fellow noob

;)

I forgot to mention that i actually have gone there, I have ST-I, (Not really considering buying the IS-4 before some buffs) and i have IS-M recharged but the stock grind seems kind of painful :teethhappy:  Also the T-10 and Obj. 277 really seem like fun tanks but i haven't gotten myself to go back to grind IS-3, not that i don't like the tank, i just dislike the matchmaking.

The common test is great, being able to test T10 vehicles has helped me avoid a horrible grinds to a tank I wouldn't even want at the end of it! Also, to avoid buying premiums I would have been dissapointed by, also, blowing 60 million credits and 30,000 gold in 3 days is also a kind of fun!

A Russian player may TK you now and then, but it's not a massive problem!

Instead of a heavy line I would recommend you to go for the Russki Meds and throw in some Russki light tanks in the mix as well. This will help you improve your heavy tank play as well, becuz you better understand how the other classes are playing and what are their strengths and weaknesses. If you only play heavies you are missing much that the game has to offer.

I do agree with you, that's why i just unlocked T-54 and i'm about to unlock Obj 430U :B But as people have suggested i've been doing some testing at test servers and i do have a pretty solid idea of what i'm going to do next.

First few tech trees should be Russian, there are so many options. You have IS7 now so - go for any other Soviet tank lines you wish.

If you really must change nation for whatever reason, second best are - American tanks. Very fun!

After that, you can't really go wrong - each line has some fun enjoyable tanks in it, and some turds that are barely grindable.

Just while you grind - figure out which sort of playstyle you feel most comfortable with.

Even though i did say before that i like soviet tanks i wanna try out different nations, mostly because soviet tanks feel like "arguably" easy mode tanks. But the American line is the one i have been trying in the test servers, it feels pretty fluid/natrual transaction after playing soviet tanks for almost 5k battles.

If you like hard-hitting, heavily armoured tanks, choose Chinese line.

Moving from Russian to Chinese shouldnt be a problem many of them are similar because they are Chinese variants of Russian tanks.

I followed thew Light to medium line and only recently started putting some effort into the Heavy and TD.

I like what I have played so far Light to tier 8 Medium tier 9 Heavy tier 7 TD tier 8

Of them all I really enjoyed the light tanks but then I seldom find a light tank I don't like playing.

American is also a pretty friendly tech tree to get into.

I recommend you to go for the 430U, stay with the Russians for a while. I don't have many battles either and the Super Conq. is pretty decent, it's only too slow for randoms

430U only needs to be be bought, i have it researched. S Conq seems like a fun tank, i took a look at it's line and.. well im not sure if the grind is worth it :P
