I'm sure it was more like 2011, or even 2010.

Prior to that you blew up immediately if you quit or after 2 mins if you disconnected.

In 2013 when I started, they had removed the immediate detonation.

Instead, afk tanks persisted.

Blowing up quitters at the end probably happened late 2014, I think?

I used to see that happen a lot more.
Not seen it happen for a while.
But it seemed to happen to tanks that I reported afk!
I assume others did to, making something automatic happen to them.
Not seen it personally for ages tho

I'm sure it was all one change, and my memory is a bit hazy but I think it was before release so I might not be able to find the patch notes.  I do remember it seemed to be mostly top tier T-44 drivers quitting to deny the enemy the kill though and the T-54 was introduced before release.

Nope. It was not there when I started. Too many complaints about idle bots getting rewarded too well. As the bot wave peaked shortly after I joined. So they added it to force repairs etc on idle farmers. It basically means the system is counting it when you see one blow up. Combine that with leaving too early... and you get zero XP and silver after 5 or so games. It's why the idle bots suddenly died out overnight.

It was in 2014.... with patch 9.3. And what they called new features to promote fair play.

AFKs still don't explode.  Only quitters.

9.3 is when they added the warning for AFKers and started giving 0 credits and exp for serial offenders.

Where's Cobra6?

He posted this in October 2011.

"Don't rage quit!

If you leave the battle before it ends (and your vehicle is safe and sound), it will be locked until the end of the battle, giving your enemies chance for easy kill (exp/credits). If somehow it makes to the end of the battle, the tank will be blown up automatically. Full repair costs, yes. :)  "

0.7.0 patch notes.

  • At battle exit, the vehicle stays on the battlefields until the end of the battle. If it has not been destroyed during the battle, it is destroyed automatically before the end of the battle.

I did think it was about a year earlier but there you go.  December 2011 along with tank horns and multi cluster technology.

I stand corrected.
