Taking out the option to vent out at the enemy was a bad idea.

All that pent-up anger caused by the enemy is now turned against one's own teammates, making the game a lot more toxic for the team.

Arty takes you out - you rage at player x who seems to be doing nothing.

You get trolled by some Sumo tank and you rage at your arty.

Eventually this discourages team cohesion in the long run.

So here's an idea - restore chat with enemy team. Let dead players vent at the enemy who killed them, who cares. Toxicity will still be there, but it would be less disruptive for the cohesion of the team.

It's not lowering but just moving to another target. And "he is on C1" is problem as well.

Yes, it moves it to the enemy, which should be the "natural" target of one's anger. At this moment all that anger and frustration caused by enemy action is taken out on teammates. Which is what makes the game a lot more toxic. If an enemy calls you names or rages at you, you could even laugh because it's expected from an enemy and probably shows you're doing something right against the target. It doesn't feel as toxic as teammates starting to see and treat each other as enemies.

Otherwise, if lowering toxicity is really what they want then they should disable chat once one's tank is destroyed in the game. You die - you shut up automatically.

And yet... I lost way too many times to it. Often lies yes, but more often it was the one butthurt you did not help to kill the 6 guns he yoloed alone in less then 2 seconds. It's why I don't miss cross chat. Toxicity will always be there as OP said. It's a game played on the internet after all. But still, there are other aspects that can't come back when you do remove it.

But even with the toxicity within team chat. It's still less of it as you don't mix it with the enemy team's chat. As after the initial greeting. 99% of things said in cross chat was arty and gold rage or cheater accusations anyway. Can't say I miss it.

PLEASE

BRING BACK THE ENEMY CHAT

The shenanigans hugely outweight the cons and it makes the game feel more fun and less dead.

Nobody was asking for it's removal. Nobody!

Why do we even need an 'outlet' for anger?  It's a GAME - we shouldn't even be angry about it.\

I saw it constantly every game that started dragging up longer than 3min with other team having a lead of 2 or more tanks. It made carrying games impossible, because when ever you'd look like the weaker team, your team mates would give up your position and movements.

I remember that in one of the very last games before they end enemy-chat, i managed to win a battle by deceiving the enemy team to not cap..

it was on lakeville map, my team was losing 8 x 3 or something, and the enemy was up in our base, me and other 2 tanks went through the valley...

and i typed "no cap kill all, in the chat" like asking them to not cap... and they didn't :child:

(we did )

To be honest I don't recall so much anger directed against teammates in the early days of the game.

Now it's gotten to a point in which you loathe your teammate(s) more than the enemy.

I don't recall that feeling when playing this game years ago. It was a lot of inter-team banter, swearing and nastiness, sure. But it didn't feel that toxic. Maybe because that's the natural way it should be. Players identified the source of their anger and that was most of the time an enemy, not a teammate. Now they can't swear at the enemy, so they turn against teammates.

How is the current toxicity a problem?  Only rarely people are really annoying and in those cases you can simply ignore them.  If those whiners have access to all chat they will give information to the enemy, which will ruin the game.

I would love to have it back. Most other games have intra-team chat and it's a continous source of amuesement! The saltiness just makes it more fun :teethhappy:
