Well if they put it there they would be forced to "donate" some of their profit to Valve, which would make sense for a new game looking for a player base like WoT Blitz PC as an example but not for one of the most profitable online games in existence. Besides I think they more are hoping to do an EA and Origin thing out of their Game Center thingy, which in the end would be disastrous, but hey that never stopped EA and I doubt it will stop WG.

They're trying to build the playerbase. Tanks took off so well in RU and has been running for long enough that it doesn't need the additional exposure from releasing through Steam whereas Warships has struggled to maintain healthy numbers. Putting it out on Steam widens the market, same as the various daily missions and login giveaways currently offered.

Why on earth would they do that? Is there a point this late in the game? As steam not only takes a part of the cake on what they sell via it, + whatever they need to get the game at the front of the store for all to see. Going by other games. It would only be for new steam accounts only. So unless like AW or WOWS you need fresh accounts to fill the ranks. Is there a point for the rest of us?

War Thunder did move to Steam rather fast after launch, not a few years after. So steam only had a small handfull of accounts to merge. And so far it's the only game I was given a chance to connect my old account to my steam account. WOWS, AW and WOT Blitz is all steam account only. I was not allowed to use my old account. Only to create a new one that was connected to the steam login.

But if you go on the steam forum for each game. There are workarounds to get your main account working on it. But it gets reset after each patch, and then you need to do the fix again. Then you might as well just add WOWS as a steam shortcut. As that's what I did. Considering how rare I play it. It was not worth the hassle to get it working.
