Why is it that when I spawn in my LT, I'm behind all the heavies and mediums, shouldn't light tanks be at the front?

Is this a deliberate attempt by WG to bugger up the randoms even more, lights of all tanks should not have to duck and dodge the usual spawn point bumper car party:popcorn:

Why is arty always out at the front, and WTF is with sticking them out all alone on Malinovka? You have to move immediately.

Yeah the spawn points for lights could definitely be better, on many maps they are the furthest away from useful light tank positions on the map as they can be.

Most maps only differ between arty and tanks if you will on spawn zones. It's why you see arty spawn to the far side on Malinovka vs the rest of the team.

Tho some maps like Westfield do split the meds and lights around cap vs up with town. Lights don't have their own dedicated spawn zone as such. IMO on most map, like arty they should have, so they don't have to drive past half their team to get ahead. As everyone has the right of way in cap, thus no one stops to let the light go first. And I've been late due to it many a time. And either get spotted moving up. Or don't spot anything crossing, as they have already crossed.

I've spawned loads of times with my lights at B9 completely at the bottom. GL when you need a light mission.

The comments in this thread are exactly why devs don't and never will listen to the ramblings on the forum.

The answer to the OP is NO.

The starting locations of all tanks are carefully chosen so that it takes a known amount of time to get to key locations on the map.

It's crucial to map balance that both teams get to certain locations at the same time.

In some cases that means lights MUST NOT get to spotting locations before slow enemy tanks have had the opportunity to locate to a safe positions.

If lights where put at the front then they would be able to yolo spot the enemy spawn before slow TDs and heavies could get to cover.  Arty and fast meds/TDs would then send them back to garage in the first 60 seconds of the game.

your reply makes no sense. there are enough maps where I can spot half of the team already at the start, with just a medium tank. balancing factor is a nonsense argument. the are enough maps where it's very hard to get into cover on time before an enemy possibly spots you.

No, this is wrong, starting positions are random within the starting area(s).

The areas are picked with an idea of balance, but quite a few maps have imbalanced starting areas, most glaring example is Mines in both encounter and standard.

That did happen to me once in my Type 4. I was top tier and came to the HT lane after we lost it. I don't mind it when I get a HT heavy team and I spawn down there in my -2 HT. But as top tier it's a tad silly.  Then you might as well leave cap open and spawn everything up top. As that's what gonna happen 60 seconds into the round anyway if you lack lights and meds.

No you are wrong as well.

It happens like this.

Once the team has been formed, and rigged against selected players of course, the MM hands over to the Placement Program (PP).

The PP then looks at each player. If that player has a mission running, the PP places that player in most inconvenient postion it can find and surrounds him with any players not doing missions so that he is effectively boxed in. Then the procedure is handed to the Damage Dealing program (DD) which ensures that any damage suffered during the scramble to leave the spawn are, is suffered by and attributed to the players on missions and those selected for rigging.

You dont need a tin-foil hat to understand such a simple procedure.

Personally I find that Widepark have the most ludicrous spawn location, at times when I spawned at the southern spawn I first had to reverse out of a bombed out house, then drive around it and only now I could actually head to the front.
