so...i was on the test server driving around in my t-100 lt killing the piggies in their base on el halluf...so i had 44% camo on the move and 494m view range on the tank at that moment...meanwhile...i got outspotted by an obj 261 that was sitting in a small bush at about 100-150m away from me...the sixth sense popped up...the piggie still not visible...he then shoots at me and then he gets spotted...I mean...i don’t know the camo or view range of that piggie...but that seems quite ridiculous to me...and I had a lot of similar encounters with piggies on live server as well...where they simply pull the cloak of invisibility out of their [edited]and disappear in front of my tank with 450-500m view range at ranges that they should be spotted...it’s weird af

Arty sits still in its bush for so long it usually grews roots and leaves on its own. That's why it's so hard to spot. :D

He was standing so still that it rendered him invisible

Maybe the arty has net + binos. A better scout nearby ? Or you were looking in the wrong direction ? Or you drived too fast and he heard the supersonic boom ? Or you farted ? Who knows without a replay ?

Hard to say without replay.

rofl

direction where you look at makes no sense. I've been spotted tons of times by tanks that were looking in the opposite direction of where my tank was at that moment.

I think, he meant, that if you (as a player) are looking in the wrong direction, the arty might have been spotted already, without the player noticing.

If you are shooting your camo rating drops severely.

So you're moving around in the open and the arty's stationary in a bush.... and you're asking why you're spotted first?

I’ve just watched the replay back again...for whatever reason it doesn’t let me upload it to wotreplays website...it’s says failed to upload because the replay is from the test server...anyway...so kill 2 pigs and 1 t62a on the hill behind where arty usually sits and then i make my way along the green line that i drew looking for the last arty...and when i get around the black X my 6th pops up but arty is nowhere spotted...so i try to pull behind the rock and right before i pull behind the rock, arty fires and i spot it(the red X)...i know he was sitting in a bush...but i don’t think that even if it had full camo skills, with everything on it, camo net, food, bia, etc....it can stay unspotted at around 150m from a tank with almost 500m view range

Best case the 261 should have been hidden up to about 190m so maybe your range estimate was off.

Wotreplays checks the replays to make sure they are valid and haven't been tampered with.

When a new server appears,  it needs to be updated to recognise it

The point is that they asked for replay and i told them that wotreplays doesn’t let me upload it and why it said it doesn’t let me...what’s the technical reason...i simply couldn’t care less.

Spotting mechanics are my ruination.  I've seen the vidoes about spots on my tank but there are some weird instances of not spotting tanks on other side of a house yet I am spotted... The one that bugs me most is when a 100 tonne tank "disappears" despite me following it with my gun and therefore in my sights even more annoying I did auto aim (cos I lack skillz ok)...  and when it becomes unspotted my tank decides to change where gun is pointing d

espite me knowing it hasn't moved...

I think many of us have at some time driven around looking for the last arty only to discover it was in a bush just driven by. So what you should ask yourself is 'why do I feel any more entitled to spot an arty with full camo sitting in a bush than anybody else?'

Light tanks don't lose any camo on the move.

Personally I'd say this is just another example of how broken the HD bushes are, worst examples I have seen are the Province bases, you need to get to basically proxy to dig out arties there.

Under the old camo system, pre-HD bushes, a fully maxed out Obj. 261 can only hit 19% stationary camo and even in 'dense bush'  69% stationary camo meaning a maxed for view range T-100 should spot it at 185m -

http://www.wotinfo.net/en/camo-calculator

Medium bush and its like 300m, that arty doesn't have enough base camo to probably defeat 500m view range, so only broken HD bushes seemingly can cause this problem IMO, they offer absurd camo even if not doubled bushed

Nope...when I looked at the replay again...i paused it and moved into 3rd person...pointed the cursor at the spotted obj 261 and it was exactly 148m from that black x to the red x...

Because of my white male privilege.

I am entitled to everything.
