Hi folks,

If a game's won, if there's a chance, I'll occasionally dive, like the mighty eagle on a hare, on some poor unsuspecting enemy tank.

Always before, hit or miss, I've died doing it ... but I just nabbed a beach bum Skorpion G on Overlord, & took just 86 (or thereabouts) damage (!)

Anyone know how this is possible/how calculated?

I did hit him on the nose, sort of, & rolled out after.  Could the roll have shed most of the kinetic energy of the fall, or is a Skorpion just a good cushion?

Replay at http://wotreplays.eu/site/4484684#overlord-eyesan-m4a1_revaloris  around the 10:19 mark if interested.

You actually took 1103 damage from the Skorpion. If you fall onto an enemy vehicle, the damage seems to count as ramming damage instead of falling damage. Ramming damage is calculate based on the armour thickness and the speed. Since the Skorpion has absolutely no armour the damage was not high enough to kill you, I assume.

Ah, quite right - I only noticed it flash up 53 points of damage from something, missed the 1102 before :)

Then you have the other side of RNG physics.

I was on Sand River in my LTTB, was having an epic spotting game when I turned over driving over a sand dune at high speed and actually blew up for 500+ damage... I didn't hit any rocks but it was just the speed when I lost control. Still got a Master award too

If you want to see a retarded fall and the amazing wot physics going “fcuk this, I’m going home” watch circon’s bc12t video on youtube. T30 fell off from the top of the hill, rolled over, bounced back up and took the amazing damage of 0...

The way fall damage works is completely stupid.

It should be a formula based on height of the fall, weight of the tank and the angle of impact.

Right now it seems based on what surface you impact. I also died from falling on a rock on Sand River from a height of about two metres in my AMX 13 75

That Tog2 video is a lol example of how silly the physics model is. Like you've said, something falling that far and that heavy should simply just blow up...

I once slipped a mighty height of 3ft on Mines, and my Cromwell exploded. My remaining 400hp gone in the blink of an eye.

Meanwhile today, some connoisseur of window flavours hit reverse as my LTG rolled up and dropped his E 25 off the lighthouse hill on Cliff, taking no damage at all despite gracelessly tumbling around while hitting every jagged edge along the way, with all the shock absorption of a brick.
