Ok, it has taken me many years, but I have finally started playing Tier 8 (mostly TD, T28 Prot, RHM, but also T32).

Boy, what a disappointment. Ok, some poor results, as I have to adapt to higher tiers. Fair enough, get that.

But the power difference between the Tiers is immense and the known +2mm problems of 'top 3 decide game' seem even more prevalent.

And the standard of play does not seem to reflect the higher tiers - I have seen stuff that even I know is feckin stupid!!

So, particularly as a F2P player, what do find is the attraction of the higher tiers??

Yours, confused, Isaneng..

You are confused yes...

The answer is philosophical and personal to you.

Why not stop at T3?

Why even play a silly pixel tank game?

Why not get out your CC and step into the Wallet Warrior Master Race tier?

I dunno, but to enjoy a game (and I know this is a personal view) I have to win more than I lose.

Maybe I am just not as good as I hoped to be!

And here is your answer, why'd you want to interrupt a good thing?

You are doing great at certain tiers with some tanks you like playing, keep going! :)

Bad with RHM?

Ok, it's slow.

Has poor gun depression

And the meta has changed from concealement to speed.

Its a 2016 tank......

You survived the power gap on tier 3 facing 5 before many times I'll bet before tier III got +1. So this should be a cakewalk vs it. As I would rather play my Tiger II vs a Type 5. Then my Pz 1c vs a KV-1. As the 1c can't even pen the KV-1's rear plate on a high pen roll with gold ammo. As tier 3 is where I lost most of my friends I got to play this before that gave up back in the day. Not on tier 8 now with 3-5-7.

As you said, just gotta adapt. Tier 8 to X has a bit of a learning curve. Tho the T28 and Borsig have guns that can deal with just about anything. The T32 less so. 198 pen is not ideal on the tier 8 HT line anymore. As in equal tier games it gets. Most new tier 8 HT's have more armor then he as pen as a weakspot. So that is a part of a tier 8 group that suffers a bit atm. And not just vs tier X.

Like lower tiers, just learn what you should be afraid of. And relocate when you know if that tank is in the area. No point waiting for it to come smack you. Then again... some people never go past tier 3. Others stick to tier 5. Whatever floats your boat as they do say.

There are some nice/good/op tanks at tiers 8-10, plus if you want to do personal missions you'll need higher tier tanks.

Just be extra wary of the tier 10 TDs which can pretty much one shot you.  Being a tier 8 tank in a tier 10 game is a bit like being tier 4 in a tier 6 game - but with a few more KV2s around.

Yeah, you just have to adapt.

It is a bit more demanding if you feel that urge to carry the game.

Playing higher tiers you should discover that the tiers 9 is the easiest. Not afraid of tiers X and laughing at lower tiers.

Ok gents - I'm getting a 'you have much to learn yet' vibe! I'll STFU for a while, see if I do get any better - or if it forces me to more whisky!

Cheers all, HF !

Don't dare insult the Rhombo.

You would never spot mine, and gun depression is irrelevant.

Not really and not necessarily on all lines.

Because the real game starts at tier IX? CW, e-sports, etc. are based on tier X in this game.

At 44K battles I ask myself the same question. I thoroughly enjoy my tier 5 arty, and my tier 7 and 8 lights. (13 57 and EVEN).

I rarely if ever play anything else nowadays but those three. And I see no reason for that to change in the near future, tbh. They all three have somewhat different play styles, and they all meet very different opponents.

The fact that they are all three premium tanks might say something. Or not. Or whatever. Thing is though that you should play whatever you feel like and not bother with what others "might think" People think too much, and way too many of then tend to tell others what they are thinking. Way too few just stfu with it.

After this I will take my tier 3 PZ1C for a spin and seal club some. And I enjoy it. Have a nice evening.

This is important to keep in mind. Sometimes your fun tank can be some wierd out-of-meta tank that you just enjoy & master the battlefield with.

I'm one of those. I really enjoy the KV-4, even tho T8 MM in it's current state is horrible to it. And the tank itself is no longer the steel brick it used to be, thanks to the introduction of better armored tanks & better pen guns.

Yet, that combo of speed, side armor, tank shape & the top gun has been unbeatable for me. Bonus are the Steel Walls it can collect even in TX games, showcasing that it is a tough cookie in the right hands.

Also used to delay the Maus grind for a long time, due to people saying it was so bad (was before the buff) till I went for it anyway. Was pleasantly surprised on how great it was. And then they buffed it:trollface: Amazing <3. Still my favorite TX heavy.

Best I can advice is 'What you like in a tank? What combo of features should it have so you can have fun? With what drawbacks & negatives can you live?' Then find tanks that fit these qualities & share drawbacks you don't mind much.

I find it weird that you mention power balance between tiers as a problem. Arguably "power" balance is much better at T8-10 than it is on T5-7. Generally T8 tanks stand a much better chance against T10 compared to T5 or T6 tanks against T7 or T8 tanks.

Because its there.....

I don't really bother playing tier 9 or 10 unless one of them is ideal for a  particular mission or game mode, but my aim for the game is to just unlock and elite every tank in the game then I'll go back and work my way through again playing a bit more seriously than I do now
