Warning, need to vent...

How the fck should I circle a lone tank in my BC 25ap???? With full clip I should be able to take enemies out fast.... but each time I want to use some of my hp (i.e take a hit, deal 3-4 hits back) I get set on fire, my engine damaged and half my crew is dead. And I'm not talking about circling a type 5 or shitbarn, just a t44 or some other russian [edited]medium.

I'm using non premium equipment, and getting multiple module & crew hits is wrecking my game. Bottom line, I get killed from 1000+ hp while the 500hp enemy survives having taken only 1 hit.

Also, I'm not very fast/steady aiming so I have to rely on autoaim for circling... but these russian bs tanks... bounce all day long...

Tips are welcome, the more usual forum responses are of course also more than welcome ;) :P

Detrack the tanks you are going to circle, and don't approach them from the front unless they just fired.

Some replays could help uncover mistakes you make. I do get hit too but rarely do i get set on fire or lose my crew like you do. I also use autoaim since it can be quite difficult to drive and aim at the same time especially on not so flat terrain. I try to shoot their sides and rear flat on if possible.

Edit: And as mentioned above tracking a tank increases you survivability rate.

If you got time, we can practice that in a training room.

I used to drive one. It's nothing like its bigger brother.

But if you don't use premium AFE maybe that's why you're being torched so often. The AFEs don't only promptly extinguish your fire. They also reduce the chance of fire by 10% when not in use.

I also used the prev maintenance skill on the driver, which further reduces that chance of fire.

Maybe I should load some automatic ones on this tank.... like to play for free without credit grinding so not much premium stuff loaded

Auto aim circling has its downsides. You still gotta keep an eye on it. Even vs a T-44 if his standing ground angle is higher vs yours head-on, firing there on that sloped plate is not ideal. Nor do I tend to fire when I'm at the 45-degree mark going from front to side. As that's usually a zero damage hit on just about anything. So I usually fire when I'm on the sides and rear. And not always on the front unless I know I can overmatch it. If not, that's a few shots that won't do anything. As it's still "just" 232 pen. So on a low pen roll, you can have issues vs even tier 8 vs more effective armor.

And using the first shot to track is not always a bad idea. And knowing their traverse speed is handy. Or their turret limit. Like the T28 P that can't point the gun over the rear, and has to take it back around to do so if you go to the other side etc.

I understand. But if you haven't sold them, you should have many of them in your depot. I never bought one and sold 75 yesterday. They come a long way and WG gives them for free. Still have like 50 or so, apart from ~30 that are already loaded on tanks.

Use auto fire extinguisher, and ALSO put on firefighting directive for bonds for each battle, costs 2 bonds per game and you will make that back and break even still with it on quite often. i run it on 90% of my tanks and have almost 30k bonds

Seems like an overkill and a waste of bonds to me. Two fires within 90 seconds should be rare enough not to mind. Sure you make those back but it's still a cost. An unnecessary one, imo.

Like putting on two rubbers.

Thanks for the responses! I expected more 'git gut' and L2P.:bajan:

AFE I do have plenty in stock from various missions, don't sell premium consumables but keep them as sort of 'savings account'. Bonds I will not spend, have never spend one and still I'm just at 1650...

Well i only have both in some of my ruski meds, could also be useful in BC, do it in ruski meds because frontal fuel tanks. usually i just run food and firefighting crew skill + bonds firefighting to boost it even more, fires will only tick for 200-300 then and rarley damage craplike my ammo rack

On higher tiers if you catch fire with ease? Not really. I have it on 2 tanks on tier 9 and 2 on tier X. And you break even more so then lose bonds if you get a few medals here and there. Even more so if you play tier X and get pure tier X games and bonds based on your XP. Lower down? Arguably yes.

one thing you have to take into account when circling russian tanks is that many russian tanks in wot have anti-autoaim armor, meaning the autoaim aims at the strongest point of the side armor.

another thing I noticed is that my B-C 12t is not fast enough to circle an Obj 257. also I can't pen it anyway with autoaim as I also had to notice, even from behind it's a crapshoot.

russian bias is getting stupider and stupider. I say this because it already has been beyond stupid for a long time now, but it's getting worse and worse and I just only unlocked the T-44 :-(

Don't circle tanks which can turn fast enough to shoot you (i.e. other medium tanks), and your first shots should always be aimed at their tracks, to reduce their chances of pointing their gun at you.

Premium fire extinguishers are some of the best investments you can make in this game. They cost 20k credits yes, but you can stock up during a consumables sale when they're only 10k each. They only are used up if you get actually set on fire, so most of the time you have a 10% fire reduction on board at no additional cost. If you do get set on fire, your prolonged survival (especially in the case of an autoloader move) should allow you to make those 10k credits back through additional damage done, or at least mitigate a lot of the cost.

These days I run premium fire extinguishers on nearly every tank I have.
